lets hear about your first car

might be interesting over the xmas season to hear about?

mine was a '73 Chev NOVA. light blue , 2 dr, 307 V8 auto. It was the first year of the body style that ruined the Nova ... it was just a little too long . But I did my best to make it even uglier by adding a 5 inch white racing stripe off center aligned through the driver. I had an "aftermarket" 8 watt pioneer casette deck (no dolby) with two radio shack speakers angle mounted in back deck . Black Sabbaths Paranoid and Uriah Heep's Magicians Birthday were in it all the time . I put 180,000 miles on it and the cracked end of the valve lifters were tapping for the last 100,000 . I eventually drove to a Nissan dealer with a ski rope holding the passenger door on and got a minumum 2000$ trade on a datsun king cab pickup.

oh ........ and my avatar says happy holidays

1978 Orange Fiat X1/9, I think I was 17 at the time. It came with a wopping 75 horsepower from factory. Paid $1200 for it and I didn't really know how to drive standard but I went and picked it up anyway. I got it home with a few stalls along the way. The shocks on that car were so bad that the front wheels would actually become airbourne at the slightest bump in the road. It became a parts car when I found the X1/9 I still have today. Below is a pic if you've never heard of an X1/9.

73 RX3. Bought a motor for it from a junker first, then bought the car. Hooked ever since!

'86 Prelude Special Edition. Snuck it out the night I got my license and blew a CV joint. Pushed it 2 km home and acted surprised when my mom couldn't move it the next morning.

First car with my name on the ownership: '86 Cavalier Z24 hatchback. 4 speed manual. Worst oversteeringest pig of a FWD car I've ever owned.

I had a motorcycle befroe i bought a car, it was a 85 Yamaha RZ500 two stroke. Rode that for the summer and into the winter when i realized that a scarf and mittens would not due me much longer damn was i frozen ridding in December LOL. (no snow yet)

I then whent and bought a 86 RX-7 GXL as my first car. Silver with blue/grey interior and what i thought was the coolest thing, adjustable suspention! evertime i knew some twisties were comming up id switch that baby to sport and wooohooo.

I wrote that car off a year later getting into an accident with a fully restored 57 Chevy, now that wasnt a pretty site!!

1984 VW Jetta GLI (2 door) 1.6L Non-turbo Diesel..........50bhp from the factory I could net nearly 50MPG when cruizin on the highway...

Bought the car when I was 13 from my deceased godfather for $800. I spent the remaining years before I was able to get my license working on the car.

Rebuilt the engine, did ALL the brakes and brake lines, new bearings, new shocks, re-lined fuel tank, new injectors, new glow plugs.....

Ran like a charm, and still does - errr would - if it had a functioning transmission. I do have one for it, it will go in one day....

Here she is with the "seemed a good idea at the time" paint job...

1983 Nissan Sentra - 2 door, 5 speed, rust on blue. Bought the car for $100, rebuilt the engine and drove it for 2 years. At one point I could open the door and walk into the front seat as it had no sills or floors! I had to use 2x6's, fiberglas and steel to keep it together!

It was a total POS, but I put it through hell and it never complained. I would do pretty much anything with that car - including driving across a farmers field through 3 feet of snow. I am always amazed at how you drive a car when you just don't care.

I'll try dig up some pics for a good laugh.

First car I've bought is still with me. 94 RX-7.

First car I got to drive by myself was an 81 Lada 1500. Not the easiest car to drive...
Things got alot easier with the 87 Buick Electra Estate Wagon! LOL Parking was a bitch, but taking a few of your friends to school is always better than taking the bus.
First manual car was an 88 Mazda 626. Love that little car.

1990 Honda Civic Wagon, haha. that thing took a lot of abuse and was fun in the snow. well, until the head gasket on the 1.5 SOHC blew. which was also the first major thing i fixed on a car.

after that is my 89 RX-7.

My first car was my FD, I saved for just over 2 years to buy it. I was 19 when I bought it, and it was fully bone stock. I have never looked back!!

First car was a 1987 Acura Legend that turned out to be somewhat of a money pit due to retarded mechanics who couldn't figure out the problem and charged me a arm and a leg.

My first car was a '73 Ford Maverick coupe, purchased with my own money when I was 15. It was an inline 6/auto - back then almost everything had a slushbox - a lot like today. I had it for about 5 years. Since it shared it's platform with the original Mustang, there were some performance parts to be had - I had stiffer springs and gas shocks on it, urethane front suspension bushings, and a rear anti-roll bar I was able to adjust. The engine got rebuilt with slightly higher compression, and I kept the carb and breaker point ignition system precisely maintained and tuned. Of course I put a bigger exhaust on it - not that it really changed the fact the engine had no top end, but the torque was good. Brakes were big drums all 'round, no power steering or brakes, and fade really meant something! Oh, and the stereo was a 50 watt Craig with some great 6x9 Pioneers in the rear deck. I really enjoyed that car, even if it wasn't really that cool, and it was definitely the start of my love of cars and of maximizing performance. I had it for 5 years, until it got pulverized by a woman running a light.

my 1st car was a 1967 ford mustang coupe, it was my uncles friends it was at a shop and the guys stripped the interior and took out the front window and let it sit outside for a while until my uncles friend found out which caused the floors 2 rust, he got mad and gave up on it and sold it to me for 200 bucks oh and it came with a 289(bored out and rebuilt with i think 0k on it sence rebuild cuz it wasnt in the car) and a automatic tranny.... so i sold the body of the car for 300 and i still have the engine/tranny sittin in my shed, and then couple years later when i turned 17 i baught my 1988 rx7

My first car was given to me by my parents when I was 16, a 1988 Buick LeSabre Custom 2 door with baby blue paint. Very nice car actually, in pretty good shape. I loved that car and I still miss it.

The first car I bought was my 82 RX-7 for $500. That was 3 years ago and I'm still not driving it with over $5000 put into it.

First Car

My first car was an 87 RX-7 GX with no motor that I converted to a GXL (minus the power windows) and had on the road before I was 16. Should have never let my mom drive it she wrecked the entire left front fender and almost cracked a rim on a trailer tung, still havent figured out why I had to pay to have that fixed??

1990 rx7 bought this year. things needs a lot of work, mainly body. I got that 1986 shell from amur, so im just gonna swap over critical parts and try and get that thing on the track.
