I used to go with st lawerence auto club. They hold a few each year. I called Shannonville and asked if they could list track days on their forum and they said they would probable be doing this, this year. mazdee's apparently does not anymore.
Also keep in touch with that new mustang dyno shop in pickering. They will host some events etc etc. Maybe they will have a dyno day throught OMSC for the solo1 members etc (Dam I have to produce three dyno sheets for my class in racing)

http://www.omsc.ca/
http://www.imagemotorsport.ca/ (I've went to three of these events)
http://www.fourstarmotorsports.com/C.../Events_49.htm

Other then that no idea. I will be on the track more this coming year then the last 15 years of owning an rx7 Solo1 dude. Pre-arranged and cheaper then open lapping days. That is if you can get past the rules. LOL

Solo1 school is two days at mosport and it includes one free race out of the rest of the races for the season. In car instructor and free lunches. SWEET!
(But you need to be in a registered casc club and have a valid class c competition license.)

(regardless I would like to hit up the track with you again.)

Ian

Hey Ian ,Image Motorsports is what i was trying to find, thanks alot! Ya like i told you i went through the trouble of siging up for Solo I, car club + liscense. but like i said it isnt worth it because of the amount of track time you get, still fun tho none the less. Il be coming to a few this year and watching you BMW clubs and Porscha clubs at Mosport i heard where really good and Howard Dexter is awesome but expensive compared To Kensai Racing for the big track ( HD = $700 your first time and $400-450 every other time, Kensai has it for $300-350)

RXHeaven, just do what i did, look through this Canadian forum and you will see people usually post when lapping days are, just show up and youl have ALOT of fun...

Toronto Subaru Club is planning on holding a track day at Cayuga road course sometime.
It is in the process. Anyone is welcome. It is still early stages of organizing so no one is collecting for deposits yet.

go to http://www.toronto-subaru-club.com/f...ad.php?t=88079

Check the thread from time to time to see when it's happening.
I am currently signed up for that, hope some RX7's can come out!

Image Motorsport holds their events at Shannonville on the Mondays of the long weekend iver the summer. Cost is $140 - $160/day, and is 'open' lapping i.e. on and off the track as you like.

BMW's events are mostly at Mosport, with one event at Tremblant. Two days is usually $400 (plus club membership), and is very much a 'school' enviroment with required classroom and an instructor in your car all the time. Hot dog here, .....and your gone. Not nearly as much track time as open days, but you do get some valuable avdice....and it is Mosport!

Balzz...see you there in April.

Sweet! Are you signing up for Mont Tremblant too? My goals this year are to do Mont Tremblant and VIR.

They do sign drivers off in the A and B groups but honestly, one of my most beneficial weekends was when I had a different instructor every session so I never got signed off. Learned 4-5 different styles which gave me an opportunity to pick and choose what worked for me.

From a racing point of view the BMW days are a big waste of money. There will be lots of lapping days as the season progresses, I will keep you posted of whats to come when I hear about it. You can go to Mosport with KENSAI when they rent the track, you get a full day of lapping for $325.00. Apex motorsports should have a few days at Shannonville and I will post them when I see them.

The BMW schools aren't racing schools, so they won't teach you about racecraft, but they will teach you about car control, learning the line and so on. I've been to two schools at Spokane Washington with the BMW club there and will be attending another BMW school at Pacific Raceways in Seattle in the summer. From a beginner's perspective they're very good, as you'll get to do the hot lapping and learn about driving without the pressures and stress of open passing and so on. Their very safety concious and there's no "passing" you have to let the person by, making it much safer as both drivers are sure to be aware of it. As you progress up into the more advanced groups passing opens up more, but still only with a signal from the driver ahead. Some of the instructors are racers, others aren't, you should be able to request one who races and ask them loads of questions. The BMW schools are also quite cheap, and the extra that you'll pay over just a lapping day is worth it, as you'll get instruction while on track which is invaluable for a novice or intermediate driver. If you want to get into racing do some hot lapping schools to see if you like it (if not you've not invested much into the endeavor), and then once your skills have developed then you can go about getting a race licence and a competition car.

Well, to each his own I guess. As far as safety goes, 2 of the worst lapping day crashes at Mosport were both at BMW club schools with instructors in the cars.
Having said that, April 28 Kensai has their 1st lapping day on the big track at Mosport. $300.00 for the day I think, 2 run groups and you run for 30 minutes at a time.

Had this discussion with 01 Racing last year,...and he's right..I've seen more car bending incidents in the 'school' environment than open lapping days. Not sure if this is a function of there being more '1st timers', or that you're being encouraged to push your inherent 'limits', or the fact Mosport is just a little more dangerous if you have a problem. However an instructor in your car can pass on more info in a couple of hours than you could figure out in days by yourself.

For me, a mix of 'school' days and 'open' days seems to work.

Tremblant...1 1/2 hrs north of Montreal = lots of gas, extra hotel costs and a major towing bill if you break. Love to go but between Apex, Image, BMW and maybe even Mazdees, there lots of track time available locally.

Well I suppose the BMW club events will probably vary a lot depending on where they are being held, as they're organised by the regional chapters. I was just saying that in my experience the BMW club events are very good. One of my dad's long time freinds is an instructor with them and with that group there's been hardly any car damaging accidents. When I took my first school they said that they'd never bent sheet metal there before (one Corvette apparently did crash though, but that's fiberglass). There's been a couple offs that required towing afterwards, both were off track excursions that damaged the front suspensions with a bit of body work, and there's been not a single minor or serious injury so far as far as I know. There are always going to be a few spins and such, but Spokane is a very safe track for that, no walls other than on the drag strip, and mostly flat run off space. I would guess that more novices do show up to the schools and they are incouraged to go fast, but are reined in when they go faster than their abilities can cope with. I would think that it's mostly non-novices that show up to the open lapping days, or that the novices never get going that fast. I know that having an instructor in the car is very useful for a novice, and you'll learn so much faster and hopefully will be safer in the end.

For those of you planning to come to Mosport, remember one thing. Shannonville and Dunnville are hard on brakes and tires, Mosport isnt...........Mosport is just very hard on SHEETMETAL!
