just got out of an emergency room...
it was the most terrifying thing i have ever experienced in my life...we were on the way back to my friend's codo after a crazy birthday party...according to the police report, the impact speed was at least 130-150km/h, we start sliding from the fast lane towards right and went out of Q.E.W and flew towards etobicoke river...when I was back in countiousness, all I remember was that extremely pain all over the body, unbelievable fire burning feeling on my face and that hopeless screaming for help. It was not until later the fireman broke into the car, got me into the ambulance, started sticking oxygen tube into my nose and rebooting my heart, i knew i was still alive...
lots of thought went through my mind when i was still in the hospital...one thing i was keep telling myself, no matter how much I love my FD, i have to let it go. this time my friend was driving his Prelude, almost got both of his best friends killed. same thing could happen to me. I knew there was danger involved when i was driving fast...but honestly i never thought it could actually get people killed. I guess i will start a for sale thread tomorrow, getting life back on track while gauging interests for this sale.

yes its good to hear that no one was killed.
hmmm doesn't matter what kind of car you have there is always a risk.
I would say going fast increases the risks but going fast in a
car made to go get groceries increases the risk more so than in a real sports car.
A good friend died a little over a year ago now, i tried to talk him out of his choice in cars
but it was something he just had to have (not going to say what kind of car but it was a grocery getter
want to be sports car) no one knows for sure what happened, but it had something to do with a corner
and speed that was more than the want to be sports car was ever ready for.
The one place in the world that i most enjoyed visiting will never be the same again.
be safe

wow, crazy story. glad to hear you came out of it alive.
as for your decision, give it some time, but do what you feel needs to be done. being in any car can be a danger, but minimizing that falls primarily on the driver.

Glad to hear everyone is safe (correct?).
But... 99% of the cars on the road are capable of driving 150kph. It's a matter of driving safely and smart. You'll get back behind the wheel of whichever car you want to but they're all just as dangerous. My friends some of whom are cops including one ETF response driver say that I'm the only one they would trust their life with behind the wheel. I drive within my own limits, the limits of road and weather conditions constantly maintaining 360 degree observation. Driving is earned priviledge that requires all your attention but nowdays it is rarely taken serious enough.

*puts down coffee, cell phone, map and chess board and grabs the wheel again*
edit: glad to hear you're alright. Do whatever you feel with the car but if you ask me, the most dangerous thing I encounter on the road is the dude/dudette in the car beside me.

Glad you made it. But why were your freinds traveling so fast? I'm sure the cops estimate could have been low. Is it not a 90km road?
You don't have to sell your car. Just be responsible. There are lots of track days where you can run your car as fast as you would like.
I myself am lucky to be alive and with each year I believe I am becoming more and more responsible on the road.
Have a speedy recovery.

lol If I see one more ****** on the DVP doing 75 in the fast lane thumbing a message in to his blackberry balanced at twelve o'clock on his steering wheel I am going to snap. Or there was the woman with the file folder out across the steering wheel driving up the 404. it looked like she was getting ready for a meeting. I came up on her doing 120, she was doing about 80 in the middle lane. There was nobody around, I mean nobody, so I thought I'd teach her to pay attention. I got about 300 yards in front of her and locked up the brakes for a second or two. I watched in my rearview mirror as all her pages when flying around the front seat. She slowed down fine, and we were both back underway without a problem. Bitch.

that being said, 130-150 is not necessarily unsafe either, but where was this? on the QEW? that doesn't sound really all that fast unless it was snowy/icy, in which case your friend is insane.

damn...well, I'm glad to hear you're all right. Too many drivers take their cars and the road for granted. And sometimes, it can get you hurt or killed. The best mod anyone can make to a car is the driver, AFAIC.

It's great that you've learned that. Hopefully it didn't take too long for you to learn that lesson, and let's hope you never repeat this experience.
For the most part I find people my age are of an abusive mental state, in that, they like to push the limits of everything. Opposing authority, Abusing their bodies, what have you, and I guess the most dangerous is when someone is behind the wheel of a 3000 lb. car. Whenever I'm in a car with my friends, I like to make sure the driver is completely compotent, I find that even during the day, or on the weekend, drivers find a way to distract themselves somehow or another. It's scary to think that they might not realize it's a red and run straight through it, or not see someone turning.

glad to hear you're alright. Hope you have a quick recovery. don't make a rash decision to sell the car, just take your time, and see how you feel in a bit. If you make the snap decision, you might regret it later. If you ultimately decided to get rid of the car, pm me. I'm in the market.
