They were probably still full of oil. I'm sure with a little lube it would run just fine

Just a bit of clearancing and you should be good to go. It reminds me of a 'low mileage' engine I bought from someone in the mid 80's that ended up looking just like this but the rotor housings cleaned up really nicely....lol. It's always nice when the side seals become one with the rotor. Boat anchors like this tend to show up from time to time.

a good polish, some clearencing and fresh porting, she'll run good as new. lol damn that thing looks soo bad. but you never know maybe it helped in keeping sort of in good condition. coolant doesn't really hurt aluminum does it? they did used to have the cold start system...

It was one of my cores I dropped off to Joe. He left me a message a couple evenings ago laughing and asking if I'd found it at the bottom of a lake, that it was full of rust! Hilarious... I have no idea how it got that bad. I knew it was locked but... Was there some porting work evident Joe?

That's brutal! It looks like that old 12A that Scott Maxted has at his place. It's now a mantel piece.

Jason, no sign of exhaust porting at all, maybe the intake ports were touched up a bit....I didn't clean away much of the rust to take a real good look though.

Pretty brutal though, probably one of the worst rusted engines I've ever seen lol

Yep, too much water injection will do that. I laughed when Joe showed me that. I could only imagine ripping the irons apart and seeing that.

They're special high boost rotors with extra deep recesses.

It's a new form of coating to better keep the heat away.
