ON I'm back in the rotary crowd too

After 3 months of searching, I bought an FD for this morning. It needs some love; let's see what Mazdees will want to make it road-worthy next week.

lol love the thread title. Congrats on the purchase, looks like a great car. You going to keep it stock, or mostly stock?

Thanks.

It would take a lot of work to put it back to stock. It has:

- a rebuilt ported motor
- Apexi Power FC (with commander)
- Apexi Twin Intakes
- Greddy FMIC and elbow
- HKS Super Sequential BOV
- HKS Hi-Power Turbo Back

Wow, only one I noticed was what looked like a simple cone filter conversions lol. Shows how much I know about FD's.

Thanks. I got it for much less than half of what it would be worth if it was road-worthy and capable of being driven.

Congrats, I think you'll enjoy the fd a bit more than you would have enjoyed getting the fc, although that t2 was nice.

looking forward to seeing you around.

Thanks.

FC's are nice, but I had been there and done that already.

I have only ever sat in an FD; never driven one. Really looking forward to getting the car back from Mazdees in a week or two.

Hey, here's an idea - let's have a GTA RX7 gathering! When is everyone available?

OK, I got the car back today. As I was leaving Mazdees, it seemed like every Durham Region cop on duty was somewhere on Brock Road. Or maybe I was being paranoid.

I haven't pushed the car much yet. I could feel the power on the 407 on the way home, but didn't want to cross the stunt driving law on the first day.

The car felt really solid. The noise of the BOV takes some getting used to.

Next chore is to remove the hideous graphic sticker thing off the windsheild tomorrow, and run some more kms to burn off the year old gas that's in the tank.

Have a tuning appointment with thewird late next week, to get the Power FC setup just right.

Post up some pics when you get the sticker off. Need more than just the couple above. Hope you enjoy the car, sound like you spent a long time looking for just the right one.

You should take a drive up toward Owen Sound to stretch out the cars legs. I went for an hour cruise tonight in the 79 and didn't see a single cop.

I have to clean it first. Its pretty embarrassingly dirty inside and out.

Thanks; maybe I will.

No chance of that happening; I like the clean look.

So I had my bargain basement FD out for the first time today since I got it back from a 3 week stay at thewird's house.

SWEET JEEPERS!!! What a difference!! Drives nice and smooth around my neighbourhood; an absolute blast on the highway and on-ramps. I was westbound QEW and I blew by a JDM Supra. Dude came after me, but I was getting off the highway by the time he caught up.

To thewird - dude, you are the maestro of fuel injection and Power FCs. THANKS SO MUCH for your time, patience and advice!!!!

Good to hear you are enjoying your FD. I look forward to possibly seeing it at the Niagara meet.

The big box of interior parts arrived from Texas today. I now have rear cargo carpet and a front rear divider panel.
