Angry How do I keep my seven safe???

9 years. 9 years I've owned my car in Montreal and Ottawa without any issues.

ONE MONTH in Vancouver, and people have bumped into it while parking, hit it with shopping carts, and today some ************ tried to steal it! What is up with this city??!!

I had a meeting downtown this morning, so I parked the car in a well lit underground lot. When I returned 45 minutes later, I find that some asshat had mangled the lock mechanism, and scratched up the handle. Luckily they didn't get any farther, but they still damaged my car!

So, what do you guys do to keep your seven?

I have an alarm, and don't leave anything in the car, but I guess that isn't enough! Do I need a fancy alarm with flashing lights? A Boomerang system? A club? A pitbull? The Alarm from Robocop? What?

What do you guys do?

******* place.

****, that is junk. Sorry to hear. I know a buddy who has an alarm with a pager built in on his seven. it seems to work well. but dont think it would have made a difference in this case.

Someone smashed out the window of our Lancer in a downtown calgary parkade on monday night, and took lisa's lipstick and 5$ sunglasses, and some burnt cd's.

God damned crackheads,

so now, we're moving -- to a place with a double garage so i can buy my first rx-7.

I say come back to ottawa where apparently now we know it's safer. That, or get in touch with Evils sister and employe her as a car guard. God know's I wouldn't try to steal anything from her

Jokes aside. It just pisses me off when ppl think they can just have anything someone worked hard to get. If i were to ever catch someone trying to steal my car i'd run after them in my pijama's. Hmmm that suddenly sounds like someone i know

lol.

someone mentions getting burnt CDs stolen. doesn't that **** you off most?
my parent's minivan got broken into awhile back, and some of my stuff was in it. they stole my $250 sunglasses and burnt CDs. sunglasses no big deal, insurance ended up getting me a new pair, but the 50 burnt CDs (mostly mixes and stuff) pissed me off hardcore. i mean, you know how much time that is worth making those compilations and crap??? lol

Civics are the number one most broken into/stolen cars. mine was broken into 3 times in 3 years of owning it. I wanted to get rid of it everytime.

put the head of the first person you caught trying to steal the car onto a steel spike. then place the spike next to the drivers door as a warning.

I only have room for one car, so if I buy a beater then the Rx has to go.

That, and I'll be fucked if I have to drive around in some POS because nobody has any respect for everyone else's belongings. I pisses me off that everyone outhere just sort of thinks "Yeah, well it's Vancouver - what do you expect? It was bound to happen." You know what - **** that.

While I am lucky that I didn't loose my car or anything in it - it still doesn't change the fact that I have to shell out a couple hundred bucks because of some crackhead.

And I am not a big fan of the pager alarms. I knew a guy who had one on his BMW. It went off and he ran outside where ther were 3 guys stealing his car. They beat him up and stole the car.

I need to put a tazer on the door handle.

Last I checked with insurance, Hyundai Tiburon was #1 in Ontario, and Hyundai Accent was #3 for theft.

They have the same engine apparently.. Hondas are all over the rest of the list..

They didn't manage to get in? Were they drunk? I can get into my car without keys, without damaging the car, in about 30 seconds...... It's not that hard.

It really sucks that you've had so much trouble with all that. I saw a video a while back of a car with flamethrowers mounted under the rocker panels. It was meant to deter carjacking in poor countries but it would work with a good alarm system

just dont leave your car unattended for too long.

i dont know about you guys..
but if i ever caught someone trying to break into my car, i wouldn't beat them up; i wouldn't even call the cops.

but i'd personally make sure they end up on a MISSING PERSON list.

sad but still kinda funny (in that holly **** that guy tried to save his car and got the **** beat outta him kinda way) but all jokes aside, i was thinking of doign something like a tazar to my car when i get it, or my AST (Auto Servicer Tech) teacher told me that ignition coils are work very well for dettering unwatned peoples, he used it to keep sales guys away from his tools, but it could work here too if you did it correctly. but then you have to drive away very fast cause then the po po's will be after ya. my theroy you touch my car and get shocked, your fault, you don't touch it nothin happens, simple as that, none of this stupid human rights ****, i heard a story (not sure how true but i heard it) that some bugalar broke into someones house to steal stuff, tripped broke his leg, sued the owners and won the case, could be a bunch of BS but if thats true there is serisoly something wrong with the courts.
