HHmmmm......moral Dilemma

My parents broke down and finally gave me money for college....
for the last 4 years its all been out of my pocket, so they said they would pay for
my books. Fair enough, books usually end up being like 800-1000 bucks, so they just flat out gave me 800, and would give me the rest if i needed it.

Here the problem.............
Books are only 300, leaving me with like 400-700 dollars to spend IF I wanted to......

Im thinkin springs, tires and a few more S5 parts to give the car a more updated feel.

Or i could give the money back.

Do they put a roof over your head? If so I'd give the "extra" back and be thankful you got your books paid for.

Just keep the extra money and life plush for a little bit. meaning sleemans instead of lakeport and pizza pizza instead of KD. If they have never been giving you money and you are comtemplating it, than most likely there is not going to be any love lost and you are just looking for one us to give you an excuse not to keep it.

After spending some money on a spelling book, I would suggest spending half of the surplus on whatever you wish, then saving the other half to buy your parents a nice Xmas gift.

listen to edv, he prolly a grandpa by now, so he has a parental pov, then again max is on to something, nothing like throwin everything out the window for a rush. honestly, if your askin. it sounds to me your guilt of takin the folks money without tellin them the truth needs dishonest afformation help from us. what happened to just simply tellin the truth! im bettin your parents have already written the money as gone, and they would prolly let you keep it. for being honest. because if you are 20+ and still getting moral lessons from the parents... you can figure it out

Listen, I have 3 boys aged 20-22-24, if they were in this position and told me what they had left over I'd probably let them keep it for their honesty as I would have written the funds off as Chev said above. However, if I found out after the fact the there was undeclared left over that was not disclosed and blown otherwise, I would be dissappointed and would reconsider the same gift again in the future. Pisses me off to no end to lend money to one of the boys with a promise to repay and see 2-3 paycheques pass without even a phonecall. The one I never lend to unless he begs or is desperate 'for this reason. The other pays faithfully or calls and keep his promise so I always accomodate with no hesitation. The other never pays back, so half the time I don't even answer when he calls 'cause he only calls to mooch. Take your choice, there are long term consequences that your foolsih youth may not recognize! Remember one day you might need to borrow some money to fix your car with the alternative being to take the bus, in this case I would just gift you enough for a book of bus tickets if honesty is in question and then drive by on a rainy day and splash you at the bus stop (LOL).

If he was honest, I'd hope he wouldn't use drugs and we'd send mom out to bingo so we could both get hookers. LOL

Been there and I have to say I made the wrong choice. But the hookers and blow were great.

Yes, but the parents always get the last laugh...don't forget about the will.

"...for all of the years of damage inflicted by those rotiserie motors, I leave
$250, 000 to the Save The Trees Foundatiion. And to my son, for dumping me into such a lousy retirement home and for that time that you lied about the money and spent it on your rotiserie motor, I leave a big fat zero."

I am considering leaving my fortunes not to the kids but to the "Hookers and Blow Fund".....Oh the irony of it all.

After reading Max's new post I'd consider leaving some for max to build a 4 rotor PP for all to see.

You so just jinxed my motor.

I gave back most of it, but i did put some in to the h&b fund last night, im getting
a few things for my car, and im taking myself out for a good vietnamese dinner tonight.

i ended up giving 500 of it back, so that leaves me with a coo 120 ish to spend, enough to finally get the one center cap for my vert rims and an s5 cluster, which should keep me happy till next year, when bigger projects can be financed.

So basically everyone is happy, especially the rippers and drug lords!

also, my internet spelling isnt great cause i could care less about it, my rx7club posting will never appear in my transcripts, my resume or in any socially gathering not related to rx7' :P
