AB Hello from Edmonton

Hey guys...I am back in the RX7 game with a 1993 Touring Edition Montego Blue...got it last summer and started to clean it up a bit with some new rims/rubber, stereo and a detail. This spring i am switching tan to black interior and upgrading the exhaust and air intake...I am a newb really to these cars...I have always been a fan and had a 10th Anniversary (which I still miss haha) but don't know a lot about the FD's.

Are there many other Albertans out there? Anyone from Edmonton?

I look forward to chatting with y'all soon!

Cheers,

Rob

PS I will post pics right away too.

There is a guy who lives just outside of Edmonton named Conroy or Connor haven't lived there for 4 years. But anything you need for your car talk to him.

Ya I head about him! I called him and am bringing my car to him for a tune up and to check into a few upgrades such as exhaust/intake/power FC. When I was in Calgary I always went to Adam at RX7 Specialties...he was awesome too.

Welcome to the club...

Is your car single turbo, sitting on Work meister rims. I knew I guy in Red Deer (few years ago) that moved to E-town then sold his... Thinking it might be the same one... Who knows..

Conroy, he's good lives/works just sputh of sherwood park... as a personal decision, don't do business with Adam, but that's my own choice, I have no intention of turning into one of 'those' threads though..

If you need a tune, I would also suggest Cam @ light speed in red deer, he knows his way around rotaries from what I've told by others...

Nice to meet you...no my car is pretty well all stock still...it's an American car...I am looking forward to seeing Conroy next weekend so he can have a look at my car. I will be asking him about ugrading my exhaust and air intake while I am there. I have a down pipe but that is it. I want to open the exhaust up for more power but I dont want it super annoying loud haha...plus I heard you have to have a power fc if you do that?

When you say if you need a tune...I am not sure what that means...like a tune up or tune the engine? Sorry I am just learning...

Lastly, I have a tan interior but have the black one ready to switch...I have NO idea how to switch it...I could attempt myself but I believe it may end in a disaster...is there somewhere to go to get it switched? I even have the black carpet too (but if it is too hard to switch that I would stay with tan).

Thanks!

Welcome back!

I'm from calgary and I have a 10th ae for now... good luck with the interior swap, thts always fun. I did that in my old fb and it was fun finding parts... lol but if you have them all it might not be so bad. I've never pulled an fd apart so I couldn't tell you. Also check out the alberta meet thread, you should come out and meet your fellow rotorheads!

Thanks! I will do that...I loved my 10AE...I am pretty well done the swap except for the headliner...I noticed that on my tan headliner it has a small carpet trim around the sunroof area but the black one I want to install does not have that...now I am concerned about road noise!

Well:

If you need to contact him, usually it's though 4kruzen or someone to pick up leftover parts.

From what I understand hes not in the "game", as back in the day, If you need something quick or part here and their, I'd def try Conroy first.

But if you need an engine or a rebuild the fastest and most efficient way to go about it in Alberta is eather contact Rotary Specialists rotaryengine.com | Rotary Engine Specialists | Mazda Performance | RX7 Specialties.

As far as I've seen or heard they do have "LARGER", and still high quality builds, that are recommended, price wise probably more, but this is an established business so you got some Le-way.

Unless your buddy buddy or know someone, I don't believe you going to have any luck, as hes a family man.

You can't hate on them as they do 3 rotors and more then one, and their shop pictures are quite nice. Hit and Miss, but if they offer a 1 year warranty I'd look into it.

Or just order one from the best in Vancouver, they got $ and best skill trying to make a living over their. *Plus they get the goods off the docks for cheaper*

I wish I was living in Edmonton, but realistically that's another 2 years away. I know my way around first gens pretty well but the FD dream hasn't come true for me yet. My rent is ridiculous enough right now and I don't even have a garage to store a project lol.

Let's be honest, not every tuner, but most will have bad word spread about them, and I'm not defending Can or any issues guys might have with him, I do know that Adam from 7 specialties sends cars to him for tuning and can sends Adam motor for building...

In all truthful honesty, if I'm going to have my motor blown by tuning, I would rather due it then fork over a few hundred $$$ to do so...

People in Alberta I trust for starting from clean slate tuning... None really, people in Canada I trust?

Marco (thewird) on the forum) he lives in the far off east land with tall buildings and poor air quality, the other is Marco @ Forced Fed in BC, he has from what I've heard a good track record of good numbers and lack of blown motors (again, from what I heard)
