Hawk Brake Pads

Hey gusy so my 87 GXL needs new pads and I was looking into getting some Hawk HPS pads. What do you guys think of these? Theyre not going to see any track time so I would like something just above OE specs. Also where is a good place to get them. I see mazdatrix has them but not sure if any local stores carry them. Thanks in advance.

Ive used them before and they make a good noticeable difference, for example if use them in rain you are much more likely to lock up, and they squeak a lot after a day or two. As for a place to buy them you don't exactly live around my block so i cant help u there. Hope this helps.

If they're broken in properly, they won't squeak or its VERY MINOR. The HPS is a good choice for a street pad. I've used them in my rx7 way back when and now I have them in my RX-8 as well.

Most performance shops should be able to order them in but I'm not sure about them having them in stock. Most places deal with Hawk. Even mazdatrix probably doesn't stock them, they order it in when you order them.

I use the HP+ on my daily driver and drive it all year round with no real squeaking. The only time they sqeak is when i reverse really. But thats it.

I used to use the HP+ on the rx7 too, had the same experience. Basically if they're broken in well they barely squeak. Any track time makes sure they are broken in hehe. But if he has no plans for track, there is no need for the plus.

I use HPS on my FC, mostly street and autocross and some track use. I found them a nice step-up from OEM, without being as dusty and squealy as HP+ are reputed to be.

I ordered mine thru Shawn at www.rallysport.ca, seems to me they were cheaper than I could get them at local speed shops like Mopac, and Shawn specializes in motorsports equipment.

I have had them on my FB for 3 years, and put about 40K km on them. They stop really well, don`t squeal, produce some dust but nothing that isn`t manageable. They have lasted through hard street driving, two trips to Deals Gap and about 12 autocrosses and still have plenty of life left in them. Toss some stainless steel brake lines on with stock rotors and you`ll have a confidence inspiring brake setup.

Awesome thanks for the advice guys. I think the regular HPS ones should do just fine for my application. At least for a little while lol.

Most predictable oem replacement pads on the market. They had great initial bite, only reservation was the break dust was huge!

Well I ordered the HPS pads from Mazdatrix last night so we'll see how long they take to come in. They had the best price I found by far. We're getting closer to seeing the street here.

Only thing I noticed was less brake fade. They feel stock to me.
