FREE, FREE, FREE Mazda Meet and On Track Lapping Sessions - Mosport Big Track

Just wanted to let all of you guys know that I can finally announce a program that we have been working on with the CASC-ON. Starting this weekend spectator attendance at all CASC-ON races is free. The passes can be downloaded on the CASC-ON website or you can show up at the track and get them from registration. This is pretty good as passes last year ranged from $15.00 to $20.00 per person.

Also just worked out, starting with the Shannonville Race rounds in June, all regional race weekends will include an on-track controlled lapping session behind the pace car on Sundays at lunch. This will be at a quick but not remotely dangerous pace and you will not require helmets or any safety equipment other than a licensed and insured cars. The Shannonville events could be a great event for our Ottawa/ Montreal members.

This will offer you the opportunity to see the track from the drivers eye view. Mosport big track is especially wild with pretty severe elevation changes.

Finally, the really cool thing is that I have gained approval to organize a Mazda Owners Meet at either the August 13/ 14th weekend (Mosport) or at the September Indian Summer Trophy Races and Enduro September 17th and 18th. They will set aside an are just for all Mazda Owners; RX7's, RX8's, MX3's, MX6's, Protege's, Miata's, etc....

The area will be on the inside of Turn 8 and at lunch time there will be a Mazda Parade and Controlled Lapping Session. This event will also offer some special extras for Mazda Owners that I will be working on, depending on the event sponsors, including Solo 1 and Solo 2 information packages. You can bring food, beverages, camping gear, music, dogs, cats, girls, boys (depending on your preference) and the really cool thing is that it is all "FREE". Al Balinsky (01 Racing) and I will be out competing at this event so you can come out and see our cars, talk to us about performance Mazda set ups and see us kick butt in the races.

Let me know which weekend works the best for you guys and I will solidify this date as soon as possible. Make plans to come on out for this special Featured Marque event and any other event that you can attend. It is a great deal and we can handle up to 500 cars easily at Mosport.

Now don't say we don't do anything for you guys.

I'm up for either the 14th of August or the 17th of September.

Can't do both days of either weekend, but I'd do one day.

By the way Mr 23, I am just kidding!!! I think it is really cool that you went to all the trouble to organize that for Mazda owners! Hopefully we will be racing on the weekend you decide on.

Sure Al, I am certain that the pacecar won't go to fast for you.

I'm probably in for the meeting (depending on the day firmed up), but last time I had my car on the big track my battery leaked and pitted my engine bay up something fierce. So I vowed never again.

Additionally my normal aspiration is so ridiculously slow up the hill onto the back stretch I'm still wounded with embarassment.

Cheers to you for organizing it though. Should be fun nevertheless.

Thanks and Lets Tell Everyone

For people who are concerned, like Mr. Eccentric, the speeds you will be travelling will not greatly exceed that on the highway. It will be quick enough to be fun and a bit challenging but not pulling a ton of G's. You will not get oil, gas or battery slosh.

Please feel free to invite every Mazda Owner you know. If you are a fan of Mazda's but don't own one yet you are welcome to participate as well. Other events I am putting together involve Honda's, Porsche VW Audi's and BMW's and Nissan's. Obviously the Mazda date works very well for me and I will personally stay involved all the way along.

I'll see if we can get a contingent from the new RX Club.
