So, there has been a red FD cruising around KW.
Its got a full kit, rear diffuser and the likes.. I'm picky about keeping a car clean and this one is, with the exception of like 15 white stickers.

It rolled past my house today as I was leaving. I caught up, and on the odd chance, we got a red. Firsts in the pack, his RHD, mine a lefty... both windows down.
here's the conversation:

Me: HEY, what do you have done to her?
Him: Nothing much: its a twin turbo.
Me: Isn't that stock?
Him: Yeah, I havn't done much.
Me: Common, you've gotta have something done. With all those stickers...
Him: It's modified for drift racing.

I then looked forward..... trying to hold it in. Pointed at the light as it was green and that's that.

Such a shame.

On another note I laughed in a guys face... Defiantly feel bad now.
We hit up a tims as we're finishing up on a friends swap (klze = ghey!) and there are the usual euro's backed with they're VW's, Audis and Civics. There was a clean VW golf which we though was a buddy from PSA, and my old bosses friend.
The guy I'm talking about has crazy money into the engine... over the 40K mark easily. Turns out it wasn't him... of course.
So we start chatting and a teg pulls up, my buddy starts a conversation with the driver... Then I hear a sarcastic "You got lambo doors?"... I laugh, and say "I LOVE lambo doors". My buddy asks me "what?" and I say loud enough for the guys to hear me, "They're making fun of us"..

The guy in the teg says... "I do have lambo doors"....
I laugh and say "Serious" still thinking they're ****** with us. He said something along the lines of honest or something... and it went to a silence with me laughing, and we walked away.

The poor guy, one for me laughing at him, and two for having lambo doors....

It would be good to know the guy in the 7 was screwing with me, but "drift racing" isn't something you make up.

The police should make laws that you must understand what you own. Then again, being cocky would be illegal, and I'd be doing time...

I understand that in the knowledge of cars, I know very little, and that there are others who know way less than me.... But still? rockin a nice car and knowing nothing about it should be illegal.

im pickin up what you're puttin down man. I hate every time i see an rx8 and wave at them and they look at me like i have antlers on. drives me insane actually. You spend all that money on a car and see someone else who has the same car...i dont mean we need to be best friends, but a friendly wave is appropiate. the rotary brotherhood demands it!

as for the FD, thats a shame.

You're in kitchener? I never see any rotary cars around at all it seems. Im in guelph with a Velocity Red rx8, lowered, blacked out corners, sounds aweful and coughs a cloud of unburned gas when i step on it. lol. So if you see me, hold your breath and wave. haha

oh, and i guy that i work with's brother just got a brand new CBR with the repsol crap on it. might be same guy.

 

I'm getting tired of the same old jokes about the same old played out mod's and I'm getting especially tired of the people who think pointing these things out is still funny.

1 maroon, 1 flashy colour.. forget what it was... something like pearl.

I stopped waiving at rx8's a while back. Its funny though, I get more waives from 240s then I do from mazdas... Possibly because they outnumber us 100:1

Sometime when we're working on a real project (not a ford probe), I'll give you a shout and you can come down have a beer/coffee

haha, man, whenever i come out for a beer/coffee when people are working i end up working my *** off. Thats what sux about being a mazda apprentice and hanging around with rotards, you get put to work. lol. last 2 rx8 meets i was in oakville until 3am the first time and 8am the second time. and thats after working all morning on mazdas. lol. although im not bitching. It was good times and everyones cars now look mint (accept mine ).

 

That's what happens when people find out you're a mechanic, and you know something about the rotary. Happens to me all the time.

i think its a nissan thing. a friend of mine has a husband who works for a nissan dealership, i asked if hed had a chance to drive an R35 yet and he looked at me like IIIIII was the ****** idiot. he then replied "no but i got to sit in the new skyline.. pretty awesome" and then proceeded to argue with me as i tried to explain that the R35 GT35R GTR35 are all the new skyline, just different names for it. even after expaining that it started with the R32 then the R33 Then the R34 and now the R35 and still got nowhere. just another reason I prefer dealin with rotorheads. a rotorhead will look at someone elses 7 and start listin the mods themselves.

my mum wants to trade her Mazda 3 in for an Rx8. if you passed her on the road and she didn't wave, would you get upset?

if I've learned anything from riding a motorcycle for 5 years, not everyone likes to wave or knows about "the wave".

not everyone these days buys a 350Z, Rx8, Corvette, Porsche etc. because they are a car enthusiast. they might buy them for the shape, stlye, functionality, colour, speed / power etc.

 

99% of Rotary owners like to think their cars are different. Hell, thats one of the reasons I bought mine. Now how many people drive a FB/FC around and don't know what it is? Not many. I thought FD owners were the same, but I guess I was wrong.
I understand that most rx8 owners buy for the same reasons your mom does. That is why most of us have lost the love for the owners.

Not to mention, a brand-new car is a tadd bit different than a 10+year old modified car.

 

true dat, it takes a certain breed of person to drive an 84 SE that is loud, has many rattles, whistles and clunks, smells like gas and pollutes like crazy
