FD Scams!!
More and more I find scams on Autotrader, Craigslist, or Kijiji selling an FD for an unbelievably low price, what a joke. Look at this one:
http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/cto/1550152588.html
1994 Black FD for only $2,850....what a joke. So I went ahead and emailed pretending I wanted to look at the car. Here is the response I get, same crap over and over:

First of all I want to tell you that I am not selling this car for profit or due a lack of money. All I can say is that some recent events in my life made me change my perception of certain things, things that I’ve considered important in the past. I will donate all money to charity after I sell this car. I am currently on a trip for UNICEF.
The car has a clear title, is in an excellent condition, no dents or scratches, it was always garaged and regular maintenance and oil changes were done in time. Hasn’t been involved in an accident or flood damage. The motor runs very well. I don’t want to offend you but the car is priced for a fast sale so please if you intend to apply for a loan or financing do not reply.
The transaction will be made through eBay company for the safety of both. I’ve already included the car into eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection, so I will sell only through this.
If you want to buy the car, and you agree with my terms please reply so I can give you a detailed description of the eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection.
Waiting for your reply.
Thank you,Suzane
We should all email and spam this email address to death! I hope nobody ever falls for this junk. They are always either working over in Africa or currently in the Army or Unicef...pffff

I have tried on several occasions to contact auto trader over ads like this but they didn't reply to a single complaint. I guess they don't care as long as they get their money for the ad. It has become a common trend with any car of interest.

I saw this back in November. Actually talked to the girl o the phone. There was running with an RX8 too. Gave all the info I managed to get out of her to the FBI. Obviously they haven't done any thing about it. I wonder how many fools have sent them money?
The VIN comes up as a Silver W/red interior.

Beat me to the punch, edv, I was going to say I'd pay just for some nice Brimstone tires! Especially if they included the Fire, too. And don't be getting all technical about front license plates - they obviously removed it so they... can't be traced back to whatever real car they found a picture of online? Okay, that is an excellent catch

An Ontario car likely would have the mileage reported in kms, not miles, also. Interesting that they use a real VIN, although not matching the picture car - probably couldn't find an online picture without a plate (giving away location) or without other identifiable information.
Craigslist or Kijiji shouldn't have issues with removing ads, since most ads are free, although the scammers might be willing to pay for first page or front page results on Kijiji if the better placement earns them more suckers.
Smitter - I think I remember seeing the car pics before too, so you could very well be right.

They do copy others pictures. There was one for sale on autotrader in Brampton but the pic in the back ground had palm trees in it. I had recognized the picture from v8rx7. I still contacted them and got a similar response to above.
The only way the transaction could be made would be online and they were too busy for me to see the car despite being 30min away.
p.s. my money has been sent to the santa location and I am awaiting a response

LOl the funny thing is, im pointing out grammar , not spelling. He spelled English correctly, Its a matter of grammar, no small "e" with the usage of the word English.
Now youre both in the loop. lol

FD Scams
These scams were reported to local police in Ontario and the OPP. It turns out, most are Hells Angels and Mob scams amongst others. They usually use real pics and ads of US cars and place them in Canadian trader and vice versa. Some people have sent their money and have gotten burned, although in this day and age, i don't understand how people can be that stupid, actually yes i can. Whenever i see these ads in Autotrader, i press the report scam button, it's usually gone in a few hours, if not, the next day.
