Facebook group to oppose Ontario speeding laws

Hey, the kids thwarted those stupid proposals to limit teens being together in cars. They gathered piles of names on Facebook and presented a huge number of names of people who would never vote for the Liberals.

I just threw this together quickly on a night shift, so wording etc isn't very refined yet. But I want to get it to people in here first, get some feedback/help if possible.

I had written my MPP awhile back in opposition to the laws, but what does that ever prove? What does anything prove? But I have to try.

The longer a governing body is around the more time they have to implement laws that reduce our freedoms.
instead of creating a greater deterant the could possible bankrupt a person. maybe they should spend more time on making people believe these deterants actually exist, such as more officers.

I haven't checked out the group, but just one point:

Don't take the fight to the speeding laws. You are not going to get mainstream support by opposing 50 over. Regardless of the number of people who have done it.

Take the fight to the vagaries in the law: Intention to break traction, passing too slowly, driving too near, etc. These are the parts that more people will get on board with, because of the "it could happen to you" aspect. Also, focus on the unreasonable search and siezure, and increase in police power without a fair trial.

Thanks for the input guys.
LOL....almost crazy....your points are pretty much exactly how I viewed it and worded things in the group. I felt the same....mainstream sympathy will not be gained by saying "F this I want to drive 220 all the time with no penalty...". I mentioned "they'll get around to you", if these particular laws and removal of certain freedoms seems to not affect you right now. I also did focus on the police's unchecked power..called it an insult to our justice system and I warn of someday waking up in a police state....because I really believe that.

Governments will do ANYTHING that people go along with. Does anyone think dictators take over in a day? People need to realize they walk on two legs ie they are not sheep. Or are they?
