Exhaust Q

Hey guys I have a s5 with a racing beat header with all cats replaced with straight pipe, to what i think i the factory Y pipe, then 2 boral mufflers. Im looking for the most cost effective/least power robbing way to make this system, notably quiter. Right now i love it at idle, and when just cruising, but when i get on the gas its just to loud, and i wanna do something about it before i get pulled over. Thanks for any advice!

throw on a cat first of all....because more so then a cop pulling you over because its "too loud" (thats totally disputable in court, but Lawyer's Spirit might chime in there) they WILL TICKET you for having no cats, $350 something dollars, no fun.

the cat will muffle the sound a bit as well

a high-flow catalytic convertor from Bonez is a good choice. it will quieten it down a lot, and make the car stink less. you won't loose too much performance.

other than that, it is hard to make these things quieter. something like a Racing Beat presilencer might help a bit, but not much.

those Borla mufflers already do a good job, so you are lucky you are not running something like an apexi N1 which are stupid loud with header and straight pipe on an NA.

edit: oh yeah, you can get the Bonez stuff from http://www.rx7.com/
