Driving Schools In Alberta?
Allan Berg teaches track driving schools at RCMP (I'm assuming you're looking for something a little zestier than AMA driver education). He's a former F1 driver (one season).

I'm sure there's more. Calgary Sports Car Club has autocross and Solosprint series - there are new competitor schools at the beginning of each season (required for Solosprint - ie, you have to pass and get a competition license). Certainly if you came out to some autocrosses, you would learn a lot quickly about car control, and other drivers are generally happy to offer advice and ride-alongs to help get you up to speed.

Better hurry up, the track's scheduled to close next summer last I heard. I did the May school with the Southern Alberta BMW club, which was good. The track website might have a schedule, if they do, have a look then look up the different groups running to see which is best.
There is a WCMA performance driving school every year in spring at Race City as well. Pretty decently priced and qualified instructors. Basic maneuvers and such are taught the first day in the infield of the oval. The second day is on the full road course, starting with a 120km/hr limit, then up to 140, 160, 180, unlimited I believe.
Edit: There are also lapping events at Statotech (Fort Saskatchewan, near Edmonton) organized by speedwayperformance.org. If you're lucky you might be able to find a spot on one of their lapping sessions. Furthermore, there are CSCC (calgary sports car club) and SASC solo events (autocross in parking lots and Penhold airport, mostly).
You can get people at either of these clubs to do ridealongs and give pointers, and it's a cheap way to get into performance driving.

other then that your best bet is joining up and attending as many autocross events as possible this year, giving ride along's and asking advice from the guys who know what they are doing...

You have to move fast, this is coming up this weekend, but there is a driving school at the airport at Ft. Macleod. It's focused on autoslalom techniques, so not the same thing as a licensing school for road course racing. Cost is quite reasonable, however - $300.
