Car Trade with USA

Has anyone successfully traded cars with anyone from the united states. What I am trying to do is trade my FD for a RX8, My FD is in Canada & the RX8 is in the United States. I don't know if you can legally trade cars between the two countries. Does or has anyone done this?

I can't see it being any different than just buying one from the States...
Just do a quick search on buying cars from the U.S. and i'm sure lot's of your questions will be answered..

Whether or not you trade, you will have to pay taxes and import duties. Start with RIV.ca and then start calling around to the provincial motor vehicle office.

In Ontario, the only tax-free vehicle ownership swap is from parents to children and vice versa, anyone else pays tax on the book value.

Plus I don't think you can import Rx-8's yet as there are too new and there are no standards for importing them yet.

But do as Feds suggest to double check.

There is no discount for trading vehicles across the border. Your RX-8 will be subject to the normal import provisions and Canada customs is set up to deter importation of newer US vehicles in order to protect the domestic auto industry. The US RX-8 will probably be no cheaper than a locally grown version.

However, you may get certain features, or collection of options that you can't normally get here. Obviously a sunbelt car would not have been beaten by the elements as much but that shouldn't matter to much since the RX-8 is so new.
