What, the 1/4 mile oval? Champ races at the airport, and I've been unable to find anything else on google.

It would have to be Castrol Raceway, near Nisku/Edmonton International Airport - they have a 3/8 mile dirt oval, 1/4mile drag, and allegedly a 2.7km road course that's supposedly been under construction for something like 12 years - no ETA or visible progress on that. It's been rough graded for forever, and looks like it will be similar to Race City's road course. Ie, two long straights, defined by the drag strip, and some notably sharp-looking corners thrown in at both ends - in fact, it looks like even more of a stomp-and-hold the gas, stomp the brakes, turn, stomp and hold the gas, stomp the brakes, turn...etc than Race City - if they ever get it done. Neither the design nor the lack of progress in many years that I've driven by there regularly makes me real enthusiastic for that possibility.

1.3 mil doesn't get a lot of asphalting and prep work done these days - maybe they repaved the drag strip, or the kart track? And a drag strip is a fine place for Fox-chassis Mustangs, Malibus, and other overweight, overpowered cars that can't turn, but it's a like having the appetizer without the entree for 7's if you ask me

I'd love to see something like a Miller Motorsports Park (Salt Lake City); Salt Lake and the surrounding area don't even have as large a population as Calgary, Vegas is the nearest major city, and it's about a 6 hour drive - but it seems to be a success and well received by racers and fans so far. It would just be nice to see something really world class and that was a legitimate draw. Until then, though, Race City is as good as it gets between southern Ontario and the Lower Mainland.

Not that the track at Mission is particularly wonderful. I know some racers really don't like it.

Now if you want a stomp and hold the gas track, then Spokane was it (it's likely dead). It has a 1.1 mile long front straight.

It sounds like this Castrol Raceway road course is a lot like Active Mountain Raceway in Merritt BC, they drove a bulldozer or grader around and made an outline of the track, then nothing happened due to money. Their website is no longer up even. Now that looked like it would have been an AWESOME track, no drag strip, no real long straights, lots of corners, long, elevation changes, the works.
