Buying an Import

I am currently looking into buying an imported FC from japan.
My question is... is it worht it to buy this car??
how hard will it be to get parts? and fix electrical problems or scan the ECU??
is it too much hassle?

You shouldnt have too many problems related to parts, and ecu scanning, etc. The differences between jdm cars and usdm (north american) are the emissions equipment (sometimes) and the passenger positioning. Mechanically they are pretty much the same. If you do import one, I suggest flush mounting a reverse camera into your left side mirror and mounting a small screen by your gauges for passing.

Buy a TVR instead, kick the **** out of any stock FD like it was playtime,
and have some exclusiveness and TRUE rarity.

Yes it is worth it to buy a JDM FC.

It is not difficult to get parts, the vehicles are almost identical, there are very few differences that I am aware of. Any parts that are different in Japan compared to Canada/US can be purchased through a Mazda dealer.

As for electrical problems and the ecu they are the same as one you would find here. If you are concerned about working on a JDM vehicle you can purchase a service manual specific to the JDM FC, the Canada/US ones are almost the same.

Check out http://rx7blog.wordpress.com/ . This is a vehicle my company imported for a friend, he is currently preforming mechanical work on it and leaving detailed notes in this blog. Im sure he wouldnt mind answering any questions you may have regarding JDM FC parts and service.
