I know the center dash vents are impossible to buy unless you're quick as [something that is quick] and are able to take out a second and third mortgage on your house.
My question is this:
What part of the vent is broken on yours? One of my slats broke.
If I can figure out where exactly most people have broken pieces (by the looks of the assembly, it's likely 90% of the time it's the slats) I MAY look into making replacement parts and selling parts or a kit of some sort. No promises, I would have to make a prototype first. I will likely look into getting a friend to 3D print them, (which means they would be plastic) and if they look good and are solid enough I will do an interest check.
I'm seriously surprised that no one (SBG or ???) hasn't already done this. Should be cheap and easy to make and should sell well if the problem is as widespread as it seems to be.
One of my slats was cracked and I didn't notice it. I adjusted the vent one day and the whole thing fell into the dash. I got the large piece right away and months later the small piece somehow incredibly migrated into the vent on the end of the dash to the door. I happened to notice before it fell out on the ground.
