black cars suck!

I just took a reading with my thermo-gun.
Temp inside the car spikes at 174.2 F.
ranges from 117 on the rear floor to 174.2 on the dash.
Just out of curiosity,How do you keep your cars cool?..Color of car?

Good story: get a portable garage.
..ok.so I get one.On sale.$200 bucks YAY!!!
Then realize that the only place that I can put it up is the lawn. The lawn is all Cockeyed,so I would need to spread gravel to even it out. Then make a floor..HMM,Patio stones..how much?.$450 for the patio stones,$100 or so for the gravel.Labor,Priceless.
Moral of the story?:If life serves you lemons,..BUY some Oranges..lemons SUCK too!

Owning my black Civic before getting the rx7 was terrible during summers. I can just imagine a black car + black leather seats. I can't even touch the steering wheel half the time.

Tint (20% on the hatch, 30% on the side glass), and a reflective sunshade in the front window make a huge difference on heat loading when you can't park inside, or in the shade. I go with the lighter tint on the side glass because it seems to keep me off the cop's radar on window tinting - being visibly lighter, maybe they're not sure if it's really aftermarket tint, or maybe it's just light enough to not make an issue of.

Dark colours make a huge difference to heat loading - arrest-me-red is actually pretty cool, even sitting in the sun. My Passat, and the wife's Saturn SL2 on the other hand (both dark, blue and green respectively), heat up lots in the sun - and the Passat needs an AC recharge now besides, the AC is seriously weak. Our recently acquired silver SVT Focus that is replacing the Saturn is much better in that regard, even though the front side glass isn't tinted and it has a black leather interior.

None of this is much of an issue here yet - third spring in a row we have rain and overcast almost daily, like Vancouver.

No garages allowed in a Mobile home park...But I can put up a "portable shelter".
Hence "tent city" and a good floor to lie down and look up at the bottom of the car!
ah..once the car gets tuned I will drive it,then since I am not going to get what I put into it back,I will just sand it and spray it..with Banana Boat!
