Best Racing In North America
Best Racing In North America
For those of you who are in to racing, I think that this years Pirelli World Challenge Series is about the best mix of world class drivers, tracks and especially cars. They have everything from Ferrari's to lambo's to Cadillac's to even Kia's (lol). Great stuff and really really competitive.
Plus, these cars are brutally fast.
Here is a link to the race last weekend. Turn up the sound and enjoy.

Yes, World Challenge has stepped up their game the last few years.
I was a fly-in mechanic for Compass 360 two seasons ago for their World Challenge season, it was very similar to Canadian Touring Car. 35min sprint races with all the same drama LOL.
Last year I crewed for a Grand Am GS team, loads more fun than World Challenge was. Since the race was 2.5 hours long, that means pit stops where the crew actually got involved. Races were won or lost during pit stops!
From Industry people I've talked with over the last couple years, it seems World Challenge has a better program than Grans Am these days.
I haven't followed World Challenge since I've been involved. Maybe I'll follow this year online!

I knew that you would know the inside of what was going on in the series. I just know two teams that were looking at partial schedules in Conti, that have decided to do WC GT and GTS instead. It is far cheaper to do WC than Conti and the level of events and teams makes it far more interesting. There are battles all through the field. With Dyson, Turner, maybe Muscle Milk, etc... moving to WC, it seems that the more pure racers like it better. No contrived field bunching yellows, reduced rule changes, lower costs, good tv, whats not to like. I do have some concerns about the Touring, TCA and TCB races and grids.
You also need fewer crew guys which saves a ton on the weekend costs..... sorry Joe.

This is true,
In Grand Am, you need at least 5 guys during a pit stop for each car. If you pit both cars at once, your really screwed LOL.
In World Challenge, you realistically only need 2 mechanics per car, or 1 for each car and maybe 1 head mechanic overseeing the work for both cars.
Definitely keeps the race weekend cost down.
