Wow, for that price you can get the real thing.
Blame Boeing, Airbus and the military for driving up prices on carbon.

Here are a few carbon sources - I have bought from the TO sources. All are good:
Composites Canada

Toll-Free: 1-877-773-7336
Phone: 905-629-3178

Also:

You may be able to get a better price from this place in the states on larger orders (minimum 5m, typical 50m rolls):

The DC-284 is a twill, DC-282 is a plain weave.

Why not just buy a pre made sheet of carbon fiber and then cut it to the same template as the MDF board that holds the leather/cloth. Then just match drill the holes and bolt it to the door?

http://www.macqc.com used to sell sheets

So did http://edgecomponents.com/

They should still be selling them. A quick check on their website shows they are only selling tubing. But a call to them may reveal more.

Here is a store that sells plates.

I forgot to mention.

If you're just doing a few panels for looks - something like a lighter #120 weave of carbon will work and probably be less expensive.
You might want to try a hobby model store - they quite often carry lighter weight weaves of fabric.

Here is an example of mixed carbon/whatever fabrics:
https://carbonsales.com/Carbon-Fiber...lored-Fabrics/

Boating building and modelling sites have loads of how-to info.
Here is a modelling site with lots of useful info:
http://charlesriverrc.org/dirman/directory/
See the info, how-to and technicals sections.
Also look up vacuum bagging:
http://www.pilotsguide.com/rc/vacbag.shtml

And one final word of advice - plastic/glass is your friend for a smooth surface finish. Even a layer of heavy duty saran sandwich wrap will work.

Practice with (less expensive) fiberglass first.

Have fun!
