1982 Rx-7 (won't unflood ?)

Guys any input please...

Car started ok...three weeks ago for a couple of days.. strait.
On the third day...while idling, there was black smoke..(to rich in gas) then she backfired then latter stalled.

Tried 3 times we did this:
-Removed plugs (dried them with propane torch)
-Removed Fuel Pump fuse
-Carnked the engine over many times (without the plugs) lots of gas vapor shot out.
-Squirted ATF tranny oil inside Trailing and Leading (inside spark plug holes)
Put back Plugs and the Fuse.
Car almost started...but didn't.

The plugs are new from last summer, so are the coils, the car even started good this winter.
We know it's flooded...the plugs are wet when removed.
How may times do we need to repeat the above process ?
What are the chances that one plug..is no good...their new from last year.
Do you need new plugs if it's too flooded ?

Any help is greatly appriciated.

regards

Pull the plugs and check for compression. After that if the apex seals are ok and all else fails, push or pull start it.

change the oil
pull the plugs (dry em with propane torch)
let the motor sit w/out plugs for a couple of hours, making sure that each rotor face is allowed to completly dry off(turn the motor over by hand each hour)
put a little bit 2 stroke oil, or just motor oil in each housing
put the plugs back in, and try to start it normally

I've only had a flooding problem once - left the plugs out for a day, came back to it, and it started pretty easy

Remove fuel pump fuse. Crank until it almost starts, or starts and dies. Insert fuel pump fuse. Fire it up.

Check for spark at the spark plugs too.

Hey, you're in Gatineau. I could probably come help you out a bit. What are you doing Sunday afternoon? PM me. We've had a lot of practice unflooding Eric's car while we worked on it over the winter.

Next time, don't use the ATF. You don't need it when you're unflooding. Just take the plugs out, dry them off really well (a torch or lighter is good for this.. maybe a wire brush if they're full of carbon), crank it to unflood, put them back in and try it.

Message me and we'll see what we can do.

Jon

Thanks to all...

Thank you guy's for your input...re: Flooded 1982 Rx.
Car started with other (used) plugs...funny though...the current plugs are not even a year old !!!
Checked the oil...very dark...(oil not old either !!) we changed anyway...it smelled like gas...

Thanks again guys...

Mybe check your floats too, could be the reason for backfring and flooding. just give the floats a little tap with the plastic handle of a big screwdriver. Usually works out for me. Good luck.
