I made this walk around video of my car a couple days ago the first 10 second youtube messed up

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQXMutVeAII

I should have quit while i was ahead lol. there was this event thing going on at night and they were raffling off 8 1 hour dyno time prizes. My best 2 runs at night were 11.54 and 11.61 I wasn't gonna make anymore passes but my buddy had his camera and i wanted to get a good run on video. so I went to make one more pass. hooked up good in first shifted to 2nd then boom I thought it popped out of gear but now every gear is neutral hahaha.I was scared I broke my diff but its good. Im guessing I snapped the output shaft or something. I've been beating on that tranny for over 4 years so it owes me nothing. I just need to find a replacement there was one that was local I was goin to buy for a spare a while ago but it sold last month.

So I got a video of my tranny breaking hahahaha

impressive!
bummer about the car breakin down....
who made the wastegate actuator adjustable? did you or did you buy it that way?
how is that beneficial?
also, i couldn't see/tell if the AFM is still on the car?
dont know much about megasquirt thats why im asking...

I've never broke anything drag racing so it was bound to happen sometime.
the wastegate actuator was like that when I got it
It's beneficial cuz i get 17.5psi with no boost controller, It add alot more pressure on the wastegate door, I had to pressurize it to hook it back up after tightening it down

there no AFM the boost controller and all that stuff is just there cuz i havent taken it out yet. Im going to make a new harness for the megasquirt and clean the engine bay up this winter, right now im just using a jumper harness i made out of an old ecu socket

Nice run! Congratulations! Are you sure it wasn't just a half shaft?

And Casual John... reaction time has nothing to do with ET.

I was grabbing them all checking them out and my drive shaft they are all solid it rolls free in gear. im gonna get it in my shop and pull the tranny out to see the damage if its not a disaster inside I might just rebuild it cuz the gears worked good.
when i put it in gear there's no noise or anything, just nothing

Put it in gear, look under. If driveshaft is turning, then it's rear end!

Was good seeing you there, nice car you built!

Like Puck said, check the driveshaft and see if it moves! I broke a stub axle once, car wouldn't move and nothing looked or sounded broken. They're about $100 at the dealership and could probably be found cheaper used. When I broke mine I was right where you were when you broke your car lol

Generally when you break a transmission they make horrible noises in addition to all the gears not moving the car. Sometimes 4th gear will still work if you're really lucky. (good enough to get you home)

I was talking to my buddy about the rear end and it clicked.
I guess I had a bit of a blonde moment ....when i went to check it today I put it in first with the ebrake on, Its on the road infront of my place still so i was laying on a somewhat busy street looking underneath. the driveshaft was turning . so I started thinking about my S4 TII diff being fucked and what my options are ,but I had saw the cv housing of the driver side axle was spinning by the diff but the axle wasnt turning. DUH! busted axle = no moving . I'm gonna take a better look tomorrow but im 99.99% thats what it is

Yep, that is exactly what is is. Stub shaft on the passenger side. Probably sheared it off just inside the housing (or not). Sounds very similar...

the diff is probably the toughest component of the drivetrain. I would think a u-joint or a half shaft would shear way before the diff gives.
