the paint / body work was negotiated , it was more than 2K , less than 5K. To save some money , it had a loose schedule and was worked on during slower periods of steady insurance repair jobs. It ending up taking 6 months to complete.

A few more of the powder coated parts going on , and cleaning up those bolts !

(The silver powder coated parts look more whitish in flourescent light in the shop than actual silver colour)

Yea, I decided to buy new ones . I was going to try to clean them but after seeing the new paint, I paid the price for a new set. It was a lot for what they are , but definately money well spent IMO.

If you think of doing it , one of the new FTP's I ordered filled got water in it after the paint shop washed the car and had moisture on the inside. It looked like crap with a fog haze on the inside of the glass and so the dealer parts department replaced it for free. The second one hasn't allowed any water in, but I suspect it will over time . The seals on these units don't look very good and there is a rubber vent plug to let the moisture out I suppose when the lights are on and heat up the FTP cavity. Trouble is I guess this vent can let water in too.

Well , the engine is in, tuned and ready to roll ............. almost. I'm getting the body shop paint job taken to the next level with a wet sand and 4 stage buff at Fearless Customs paint finishing shop.

pretty happy how the stock snorkel mounted over the sneedsport fan shroud and koyo rad.

Just an update on a little more work on the vert. I finally got around to putting the leather seat covers on this winter . These were bought from Leatherseats.com in oklahoma. The before pic below is of the passenger seat which was the better of the two. The driver side was real rough on the door side bolsters. They turned out pretty good IMO.

Im-with-Stupid story ....... I got a mild concussion putting them back together though . I had them on the ping pong table and pulled the spring latch to bring the seat forward to put the head rest on. That f%&^&en spring has a ton of force. The two stainless headrest rods nailed me square in the forehead . Knocked me right on my *** and was woozy all weekend.

the leather seat covers dont come with new padding right?
what shape was your padding in?

i was going to try this myself, but I want them nice and tight like factory and not bulging up from padding that has degraded.

btw- the reason this thread aint 10 pages long is apparantly if you have something real to show no one is interested, ask something stupid like sleepy eyes yes or no and you will get a 20 page response.
OR tell everyone how you painted your car with a roller and a brush and it only cost you $35, its almost like FC owners cant appreciate a job well done and professional.

Thanks , hope this helps

This is a pic of the underside of the covers . They are pretty good and have filler in the ribs in the seat and back to match stock. The sides that go over the bolsters do not and only the front panels and where the stiching is, is leather. the back and sides are black vinyl. They are strong and match good though. If your bolsters are real bad , you could get a pro auto upholsterer to do it for about $100 / seat. They can rebuild the foam like new . I have a few wrinkles in a few places but I am expecting them to come out when the sun gets on them . Thats what I've been told anyway. nevertheless, I am pretty satfisfied .

they are currently a little "flatter" black than stock , but mequires leather conditioner will bring up the black like they were stock .The leather on the cushion and back has the pinholes like stock as well which is an option you have to ask for . They were 499$ for the set.

Also , I got a custom plate for both the FC vert and my '79 SA. They look pretty cool together . Manitoba has some pretty nice plates too. The background is a brushed aluminum colour like the BBS rims.

so they are leather and vinyl combo- sounds good.
back when no one was making this crap you could not find new skins for under $1000 in leather.
