CA The tragic tale of Papa Smurf.

Hi all,

So this car has been through hell and back and probably will go through hell to get it road worthy, but I am working and determined to get back on the road with it.

Any advise is appreciated but I'm going to do my best to document my little journey on here when I can. From where I am at right now I'm starting to piece together the outside intake and exhaust pieces to see if I can get the motor back in soon.

Here is the car:

Here is the motor: (Code Name: Papa Smurf)

I'm excited and I will need help I'm sure. I am ordering the gaskets I need today and picking a mechanic manual again today since I lost my last copy 2 years go when the upper radiator hose blew on my and took my prize off the road.

This build will complete and this project will complete, at least that's what I say.
I have put this car through hell and learned a lot in the process but due to the history I know have with this car I won't let it go. I'll post more details of how I got her if anyone wants to know but This thread is more for me to keep me motivated to keep working.

I'll be uploading pictures to this Google drive folder as I go and posting a few pictures as I can here in the thread with what I think i'm doing.

Thanks all!

Just an update. Car is in the shop and engine is about to go in. Just missing the Flex Plate for the Transmission. If anyone knows where I can pick up one I'd appreciate it. Otherwise I have a few leads myself. Planning on ordering a new plate tomorrow.

Got a Flex plate in. Took more time then I originally thought.

Motor is in the car. Ordered some new OMP lines and working on locating a replacement pump. Power steering pump might be bad as well, that is being looked into to see if it can be fixed.

Now I wait for more parts. When items start rolling in I'll update again.

I have my old S4 OMP pump sitting in my garage right now. I'd send it over to you but I won't be back home until next month. Hope everything else goes smoothly for you!

Ha-ha main goal is getting her restored first before I start doing any swaps.

Also I got an s5 OMP pump in so I'm good on that so far, should be getting more build progress today I hope.

One man's trash is another's treasure. Part searching is like a scavenger hunt!

I'll update with more pictures soon.

Parts searching is a pain but can be rewarding. Looking forward to today's progress!

Honestly there is no ETA for completion. I'm trying to make sure I do quality work on it and not rush anything as I'm still learning for the most part. I try to do what I can in my spare time.

It will get done though, I refuse to let this little project die.

No updates on pictures yet so far, I will post more when I have more progress.

Well change of plans on this. I got married and ran out of time and money to finish this project. I'll be making a new thread in a different section to sell the car. May have an option of free towing, within reason.

Another incomplete build thread.
