Silver Comet - Build Thread
#33
I went ahead and purchased a Shine Auto Sexy Style hood in by Ken at Shine Auto! Thing is fantastic! I also purchased their rear diffuser as well and have just got around to fitting it, it turns out that its made for an exhaust that comes out the passenger side of the FC instead of the way my Apexi comes out so I'll be selling that hopefully and going with a custom manifold and 4 inch piping all the way out the back Trying to scoop up a BNR Stage 2 Turbo over the winter too along with some 720cc primaries. Hopefully everything works out for next Spring.

Update
Pulling off my entire exhaust this coming Friday because I'm going custom 4 inch piping out the other side while also building around my new rear diffuser. I will be having a custom manifold made by Diamond Fab, a great little shop in Elyria, Ohio owned and operated by Darren Rick. He will also be building the rest of my exhaust. Should be fun!
I had noticed throughout the forum that people running stock turbo's really don't have many options for an upgraded manifold other than using the OEM cast manifolds that are prone to cracking. We plan to make a tubular manifold for the stock turbo and opening up a group buy as well for people on the forum to join in on the fun, while they should be fairly priced. I will get around to making an official post about it sometime soon updated with pictures and many details.
Also, I've been kicking around the idea of upgrading turbo's... varying from hybrid's from BNR, garret 60-1's, and even GT35R's. Wouldn't mind hearing some idea's.

Getting my exhaust fabbed up by Darren Rick at Diamond Fab which should come out pretty nice. He's making me a 4 inch straight through exhaust. Should be interesting to hear, along with a custom manifold to support my TDX61R Turbocharger from Turblown. It's a twin scroll ball bearing turbo which I'm told will be perfect for what I planned for the car. It's a 1.00A/R as well
Other than that I've just invested in Apexi Power FC with a Banzai-Racing adapter and I hope to have that tuned by Defined auto works upon completion.
New additions:
*TDX61R
*TiaL 44mm V-Band wastegate
*4 inch exhaust
*custom twinscroll manifold
*OMP delete
*upgrade secondaries to 1680cc injectors (Swap my 720cc's in the primaries)
*Apexi Power FC with Banzai Harness
*SARD Fuel Pressure Regulator
*Walbro 400lph fuel pump

I'm confused, in the pictures you have a garret with an A/R of .70, but you said you got a Turblown with an A/R 1.0. Is it just a garret compressor housing slapped onto something else?

the 1.0 a/r is the turbine housing. turblown's tdx61r is a hybrid he builds that is based on some garrett parts using some of his own parts as well. functions like a garrett gtx35r but with a p-trim turbine wheel i believe. i was strongly leaning towards this turbo before i went with my current bw efr 8374. that should be an awesome turbo

Got some work done today!
- Pulled off the old stocker S5 turbo I had built. Already found a buyer for it near by!
- Removed the upper and lower intakes, taking off the Rising-RPM block off plates, selling them and having the openings welded shut. These intakes will then be powder coated.
- Primary and secondary injectors/fuel rails were removed. Gonna have the grommets on the 720's replaced because they had some cracking. Along with the clips. OEM 550cc injectors are up for sale!
- Will be powdercoating the fuel rails along with the GReddy elbow!
- Checked out the OMP, oil injectors, and lines. I'm gonna run the Banzai-Racing block off kit and delete it and start using Idemitsu premix! Simplicity is key!
- Removed the FD fuel pump and waiting for the Walbro 400lph to come in!
- Removed the OEM FPR, will install SARD FPR next time around
