Naturally Aspirated 13bre build
I bought a low mileage GTUs with a bad engine and I was going to just have a normal rebuild done but I wanted something a bit faster.
Didn't want a turbo car. I have one of those. I just want something with a little more power and reliable. I'm not an engine builder so I found one and had them rebuild this. The car was just north of Columbus in Mansfield Ohio.
I bought the car from a man named Jack. Jack is the original owner and is in his mid 80s and had driven the car back and forth for many years to the golf course just down the street from is house in Mansfield.
I would guess the engine didn't get warmed up like it should on those short trips to the course and at 28K miles the engine died. It was still running on one rotor.
Jack bought this car after he retired. He could have bought just about any car but he wanted a second gen. Rx-7. He didn't know much about Rx-7s except that he loved how this car made him feel young again. This alone makes Jack cool in my eyes. He didn't know anything about the Rx7club or rotaries, he just loved this car.
So I had to pick the car up with a trailer and take it somewhere to be fixed. I looked around and found Defined Autoworks in Columbus, it was on the way home from mansfield so it was perfect.
And so I met Logan and Matt at Defined Autoworks. I have to say, I am very impressed with these guys. I wanted something different and Logan suggested a naturally aspirated 13bre. It was built from scratch with parts from the original engine in the GTUs and a 13bre. It is definitely different. Logan still has the car and here are a few pics taken by Logan.
