Just found your mega dope build thread. Shit looks good.

I need another fc in my life.

YES, we both have stock fuel rails  affordable 20B swap FTW! haha

pretty sort-of-bizarre start to the thread, but i must admit it was worth reading on. it seems you're well on the way to accomplishing your goals and that's not something everyone gets to experience. drifiting is not really my cup of tea, so your car as a whole doesn't really ignite much in me, but your engine ... hot damn!!! by the way - the comment about your car was not meant to be abrasive. while i'm not into that sort of thing, i do respect it as your vision and your build and that that encompasses. you've put some hard work into and that always gets my respect.

i had some aftermarket kg fuel rails but they were annoying so i went back to stock and found a guy that sold modified bosch 1600s that would fit right. im a function over form guy, contrary to shiny aluminum..

thanks. i just do what makes me happy.

started putting it back together today. only got about 2 hours of work in before i decided that 23* is too cold to work

ill finish it up and get it fired tomorrow. have to wait til the weekdays to get a few much needed fasteners that i seem to have misplaced. sucks that metric is so tough to find here.

stevensimon Jan 17, 2013 10:51 PM

finally had time to try and start it.

it worked

just for fun

*there are no controlled substances in this photo. its just sugar

RotaryEvolution Jan 30, 2013 01:19 PM

get it broken in and a trip back down for some tuning, it's funny seeing the looks and responses from people around here when tuning rotaries.

edit: awww, i just saw the for sale thread... :(

stevensimon Jan 31, 2013 04:23 PM

i dont think it will sell. ill be there on feb 23rd for vegas drift pro am. probably come down a day early to tweak tuning and make sure it runs right at that altitude.

RotaryEvolution Feb 1, 2013 05:36 PM

that's cool, i would hate to see it sold but you have the proper mindset that not many people have 20k to drop on an FC or want to. most cars get parted out.

give me a heads up beforehand so i can try to get a hold of the dyno shop, they have been super flaky lately as i have a car i need to get tuned and haven't been able to get a hold of them for 2 weeks. probably will look for another facility because i'm getting fed up with their stripper hours/no shows and no way to get a hold of them.

it seems loud in the video but really.. i cant hear it over the engine so i dont mind.

ingredients.
mr2 electric pump
bmw trans fluid reservoir
m16x1.5 to -6an barb for low pressure return line
m12x1.5 to m16x1.5 high pressure hydraulic hose
m12x1.5 bolt to block balance port
generic fluid cooler
fuel injector hose clamps aesthetics only
4' 3/8" hose
75a relay
switch
cat litter to clean up all the fluid from the leaky hoses

RotaryEvolution Feb 2, 2013 04:29 PM

thought that reservoir looked familiar, same as in my E36.

beefhole Feb 2, 2013 06:37 PM

When the car is idling and you move the steering wheel, is there a noticeable drop in RPM from the (electric) load of the pump?

stevensimon Feb 2, 2013 07:18 PM

i didnt run the engine much with it on but i didnt notice any drop. probably similar draw to a heater blower motor at full tilt.

I see your Credit card has expired Steve..lol!

stevensimon Feb 6, 2013 12:58 AM

you must also notice that i went back to green back technology lol

misterstyx69 Feb 6, 2013 01:01 AM

I like the place where you would swipe the card though!

stevensimon Feb 6, 2013 09:28 PM

no leaks out of the power steering or anything else for that matter. its nice. got tired of replacing exhaust hangers so i bought some steel sleeved ones. 70$ and 2 hours later i gave up on them. went with making some out of some strap steel i had. exhaust is never going to fall again although its somewhat wobbly and squeaky.

took it for a spin around the block for the first time with the new engine. sounded like it was missing or flooding out or not firing as soon as it gets under any kind of load. got scared i maybe chipped a seal or something so did compresion test. everything is around 80 but even. im sure the numbers will come up when it starts to break in. hoping i can tune the problem out since its not internal...

RotaryEvolution Feb 7, 2013 12:46 PM

double check all your injector connectors, fuel pressure and CAS timing(don't believe i stabbed the CAS on that one, no pulley). it's always something simple and unless the injectors were changed it should run about how it originally did.

compression figures may sound low but cranking speeds are relevant to cranking compression. 3 rotors don't break any cranking speed records.

stevensimon Feb 10, 2013 04:10 AM

Checked injectors and coils. Cas and timing is dead on. I found the problem though. Loose plug wire on #2. Runs better and is scary cause its building boost at 15% throttle at 2500rpm

stevensimon Feb 12, 2013 07:15 PM

i think its running better and my new phone can capture the audio much nicer

RotaryEvolution Feb 13, 2013 02:34 PM

warranty voided!

lol j/k

god dang! brutal!!
is that engine broken in??

i've been babying the Goopy seals for 600 miles now. guess it's time to boost!

stevensimon Feb 13, 2013 08:07 PM

it has a few miles on it now. rotary evolution said that these are pretty soft seals so they should break in faster. besides my oversight on the plug wire and the faster turbo response, its been running as if i never went through the engine, which is a good thing.
