Hello all,

This thread will be my ongoing build thread of a 1987 FC Turbo 2 that I bought recently from a member here. I want to build a drift car that can be street drivable, while sporty enough to do good in track.

Notice the body damage on the driver side bumper

I painted the spoiler red, originally it was black.

I started this thread a bit late, as I've already started working on the car for half month already. After a general inspection of the car here is a list of interesting features that came with the car.

- Jacked up engine harness
- Jacked up interior harness
- Custom kill switch conveniently installed under the steering column near where the knee rests, if you ever want to kill off the engine all you need to do is move your knee and your car will shuts off right away.
- OEM presilencer ->downpipe -> Nissan 300zx catalytic converter -> 3 inch pipe -> single outlet ebay fart can
- Custom ghetto ground wire
- pinkish white s5 OEM wheels
- Emission cut off done improperly
- Bad turbo
- Cracked engine block near the CAS with serious oil leak and patched with a **** tons of RTVs
- Dog lover setup interior, everything smells like dog, when you turn on AC you smell the dog scent from the blower
- Possible a engine ready to blow
- S5 interior and tail lights (I like)
- Tanabe super soft lowering spring (like 1.3kg/in or something) on stock shocks.
- manual steering racks (awesome, cos I love drifting)
- No A/C
- Ebay short/long shifter (chrome looking but doesn't really shorten the shifter at all), whoever install this also damaged the transmission because the shifter wont stay at center and always leans toward left.
- Ebay rice gas pedal
- Front driver side bumper was pushed up and damaged the front chassis a bit.
- Ghetto fit OEM spoiler (The spoiler is literally "screwed" on to the body, which not only damaged the spoiler but also caused some surface rust on the drilled hole)

Now, I'm sure all of you would have one very similar thought in your mind. Why did you buy this car? Don't ask me, we all have been there, and done that. What's important now is to stick with it. Fix and learn as I go.

As unexpected this car has the 3 major problem that needs to be addressed.
- Smokes when engine gets hot with white smoke.
- Engine boggles around 3.5k rpm
- Misc. electrical system not functioning.
I will further explains the problems and symptoms

Anyway, here is a list of things I did for the past half month

Tune-up

- Replaced fuel filter

- Replaced spark plug to NGK platinum (Previous spark plug setup was 3 Trailing and 1 Leading, and hand screwed, I busted my hand expecting there would be some resistance when unscrewing them.)

- Fixed the ignition sequence back to normal (The setup was the trailing coil go to the front rotor and Leading coil goes to the Second rotor)

- Replaced window switch
- Replaced air filter
- Block off any vacuum hose that just sits open in the air.
- Replaced brake pads
- Replaced exhaust system (Racing Beat Rev II Dual Exhaust)
- Replaced oil filter

As of now the car is parked, although engine still runs fine, I only start it to keep it away from engine floods or potential parked car problems. I also want to avoid any possible further engine damage by not run it for too long.

The turbo is probably bad, as I warm up the car the smoke starts to get thick. I also spotted smokes coming out of engine bay from the exhaust manifold, I also notice that oil starts to sip through the gasket between downpipe and the exhaust manifold.

I also spotted this metal pin stuck into the ABS fuse slot, and a 10 fuse instead of 7.5 fuse where the turn signal light fuse is.

This car also came with out a oil pressure sending unit, oddly enough. Instead a rusted bolt just mounted on where the OPS is.

You know you love it when there are 20 different color wires hanging around in your engine bay.

First mod you need to do is make those Crown Vic wheels magically appear on your car......lol. Looks like a good start to a great project!

Replaced the turbo yesterday, although the replacement was a bad turbo as well, it made the car run with minor smoke coming from the engine bay. The turbo seem to be giving a lot of boost for some reason. A little too much actually, when the car is at third gear around 4k rpm and decelerates I heard a loud pressure release sound. (Like a BOV, but way louder. Although it did put a big smile on my face for a sec, I think that was way too much boost), also the engine looks like it's got a stage 4 RTV job done to it on the upper left corner part of the block where the mazda emblem is, and it is oozing oils out pretty badly after the increased boost. Hmm, looks like a rebuild is inevitable.
