My '87 NA Build

Well I saw some of these and figured I'd give it a shot.

About 2 years ago I bought an 87 NA and have been working on it ever since. The previous owner had told me that he had done a few things.

13B block with removed ACV and Air pump, 5th/6th ports screwed open
welded rear diff
K&N filter replacement
Street Port(unconfirmed)
Stage 2 clutch(unconfirmed)
Off brand rims
87k miles
engine ran just fine

The Bad stuff
Console surround completely smashed
Almost all vents broken
2 Speakers blown
Rim/Tire setup horrible(bad offset kept them on the springs)
Stock driveshaft(worn out)
Bald Tires
Original Fuel filter still on car
original thermostat
hack job wiring for radio head unit
shifter sat too far forward, which has broken the 2 bezels i've replaced
thermo valve vacuum line snapped off forward nipple
no maintenance records
no fluids in car upon purchash
Warning light cluster and bezel were broken

What I've done

So I've had my work cut out for some fixing. Started with the obvious replacement of fluids, filters, and minor maintenance related items.

Later came tires, but due to offset front tires rubbed my fenders out.

Replaced all the small vents, and interior items. Went with the S5 warning light cluster, bezel, console surround and center vents.

Replaced offbrand speakers with a set of kickers, 6.5 rear and 4 in the front.

Replaced stock driveshaft with mazdatrix aluminum one

replaced coolant lines(after blowing one up at a car meet, which later resulted in thermostat replacement, then found out I had bad water seals fromt he overheat.

Replaced radio head unit with Pyle PLDN74BTI double din touchscreen(cheap brand, but really good price)

Now I'm at the big part. With the bad water seals and progressive engine related issues I decided to give Ernst at RX7world.com a call and have him build me a new engine.

13B stage 1 with mild street port, polished rotors, and upgraded corner seals.

As of today the old engine is almost out(bout 4 bolts left), new engine should be ready in the next few days. I will post those pics when we get it goin back in.

End Result

By the end of this build I hope to have a slightly modified but mainly factory restored FC. The next step after the engine will be some suspension changes. Since this is a work in progress I will post more as it happens.
