Finally got the paint in the mail this week! Got the fenders, hood, rear bumper, and mirrors painted. I ran out of paint AGAIN, so I am waiting for the next back to come in to finish up the doors and sunroof. The hood has a small ding on the surface, so I think Ima hire a PDR guy to come out and take care of that ding. Otherwise, the car is starting to become a car again! So excited for the reassembly and to have a working car.
I used the plastic wrap to mask off the entire car because the best way to paint the hood, is with it on the car. By doing it this way, you can get both sides of the hood to make it look good!

Mounted the mirrors to my panel stand holder so that I can get even paint coverage on the entire mirror.
Gp Rear Bumper Primered.
Hood is not fully closed in this pic, just resting on the latch. Panel gaps are perfect when closed just like any OEM part should be like!

I also got some time to mount up my Momo Monte Carlo Steering wheel onto the NRG hub. I am personally not a fan of NRG products because its cheaply made and just ugly. This setup will be yanked in favor of a worksbell hub and quick release setup. I had a worksbell before and I can reassure everyone that it feels A LOT more solid.

The car has come a long way and I am super excited to get it back on the road and really feel how this car drives. Here is a little BEFORE pic of the interior and AFTER! For a cleaner look, I rerouted the passenger side harness into the inside of the quarter panel. I couldn't do it to the driver side because I couldn't find all the connectors to disconnect them but it's okay in my opinion.

Before Polishing
After Polishing
It has been a while since I made some updates on the car. The Bay Area has been getting a lot of rain these past two weeks so progress has been slow. Without a proper garage, it is very difficult for me to finish up the build on the RX-7. Last time I left off, I showed off the fenders, bumper, and hood being painted. Well, my friend and I reinstalled the fenders and rear bumper back onto the RX-7! It's slowly turning back into a real car now and before I reinstall anything, I like to restore it the best I can. I polished the rear tail lights with some Meguiars M205 and a Rupes Yellow Pad. It definitely helped brighten up the tail lights and make them some what presentable. They are in no way perfect, but it will do til I get some brand new ones! Sorry for the terrible pictures, I promise that once I the rain stops, I will take better pictures of the current state of the car!

Went to go check out a Mazda RX-7 FD this weekend! Super Lowmileage but the problem is that it has been sitting since 2009. The car has been fully repainted apparently when the guy installed the wing, and front bumper. The overall condition is good although it does have the dreaded tan interior. Do you guys think I should swoop it up as well?

The RX-7 FD ended up getting sold so we are still on the hunt for a semi low mileage FD. If we can't find one for a good price, then we will be doing the FD2 Type R conversion on the Blue Si. While the rain has been going on, my mom helped me reupholster the sunroof and the shift boot in suede. It took her around 30 minutes to do both! If anyone is interested in buying one from me, private message me! Not only did we get the shift boot and sunroof reupholstered, we also painted the sunroof and side mouldings so that we can prepare to put the doors and roof back into the car. The car is slowly taking shape, but still needs a little bit more work. We should be seeing a break from the rain tomorrow which I am hoping I can get the doors painted and on Monday have the doors put back into the car. Today, I decided to install my racing short shifter that I purchased since my stock shifter had worn out bushings. It was so sloppy, it was unbelievable haha. This racing short shifter is SUPER SUPER short like very short. The height is just perfect so that going from the steering wheel to the shifter is a lot easier.
I apologize for the terrible pictures! The tent has been making it difficult to get decent pictures of the RX-7!

Over the weekend, I got the car reassembled finally! First in line was reinstalling the door which proved to be a super tedious process. The door is super heavy and trying to not scratch anything was a nightmare. My friend and I ended up taking turns holding the door up while the other bolted the door to the chassis. With the doors on, all the new oem seals were installed to the door! Glad I made the decision to buy new seals because it made a HUGE difference! We also installed the interior and all my suede parts!

Wow, this car is amazing to drive. Feels a lot like a race car I must say. My car has solid bushings, half gutted interior, semi slick tires, and stiff suspension. All these components makes the RX-7 a one of a kind car to drive! The battery was bad after sitting for so long, so I decided to just purchase a new one along with some new headlights! I purchased these Raybrig headlights because these are SUPER clean once installed! I had a lot of fun this week driving the RX-7! The RX-7 is so unique and the sounds this thing makes is quite incredible! I am a die hard Honda fan, and all the other cars I've owned, I always missed VTEC. This thing, well, helps eliminates the need for VTEC! It SCREAMS!!

Detailed Pictures INCOMING!
The car is by no means finished! We still have a lot of details to finish up on this thing like wet sanding the paint and polishing it, ceramic coating the paint, and installing the front bumper and side skirts!
