Fc S5 rx7 Transmission Auto to manual conversion

I just recently unknowingly bought a S4 Manual Transmission. The problem here is that my chassis is a automatic S5 transmission, now I found a bracket to put the manual conversion to the auto chassis. But Im worried if the S4 Manual transmission would work and fit fine into the S5 chassis. Because I originally was under the impression my trans was a S5 manual. And I see that their mounting Y brackets bolt up differently. If I bought a conversion mount for a S4 trans and put it on my S5 chassis. Will everything fit okay? Or would I need to buy a S5 manual transmission to do the conversion???

S4 Manual trans should work just fine, couple things you might run into;

1. Shifter thread pitch will be different than an S5 trans shifter- just remember if ordering an aftermarket shift ****.
2. You may have to double check the reverse switch wiring (can't remember 100% right now).

Other than that, just make sure you have a NA flywheel and clutch to match your NA trans. And your driveshaft will be different.

There are tons of people that have done it though, jump into the search or scroll a few pages in the main 2nd Gen Specific section.

Well thats a relief Id say, by chance would you have photos of the sensors? I been trying to look everywhere and cant find the wiring. Also when you say the driveshaft is different do you mean compared from manual to auto? Or a S4 and S5 manual driveshaft is different?

I don't have pictures, sorry. Yeah the manual driveshaft is shorter (if memory serves me right) than the auto. S4/S5 NA manual driveshafts should be interchangable.

For future reference, post these types of questions in the main 2nd Gen Specific or 2nd Gen Technical section and you'll likely get a response a bit faster.

@Moderators probably just need to move this one to the Tech section.

I think this is a double post, too.

If you still have the auto differential your speedometer will be off, as far as I can remember. The car will be a bit sluggish as a stock N/A with the 3.9 rear. Years ago someone did a comparison and said,"imagine driving alone in your car all the time. Then go on a cruise with a 300lb person in the passenger seat, it's like that""

You can go with a shorter tire to make up the difference though. Maybe there is another work around?
