NC Before

Here are a few before shots. It may not look that bad but it had Huge blown coolant seals, rats, cracked / missing interior, no title, and hadn't been registered since 2003. This car was long gone and horribly molested.... Not a shred of aftermarket, just plain ghetto.

Went ahead and finished the engine priming. I've never used an HVLP gun which was a little different than the conventional guns. I ended up having the fluid too far open and caused my first spray with the base coat to be sandy... I set up a few more lights around the bay so that I can keep track of the fluid flow. Tomorrow, I'll go ahead and sand down a few of the bad spots and spray another coat or two before I clear it Thursday.

Spent the day sanding... painting... and finally clearing the engine bay. Most who read this will HATE what I'm about to say but I just went with some duplicolor primer, base, and clear for the bay since it won't be seen. With the four quarts of paint, prep supplies, tape, sand paper, and brake cleaner I spent just over $150 to change the engine bay from a rusty peeling stock red to a brand new blue. Not too shabby in my opinion. I'll update with some pictures as soon as the clear is all good and dry.

NC After painting the bay

Here's the update for the engine bay paint. This next two weeks will be all about painting the Body and the spare CF hood. Enjoy!

This is my setup in the garage. Not too bad for 125 a month




This is what the paint looks like under light and hopefully in the sun

I had to put the sticker on the booster.... I didn't have a cool silver one that said RX7

I never even thought about it that way. I just wanted a dark blue for the engine so that it wouldn't contradict the exterior which will be Viper Blue. But it does look a lot like montego blue in person. Not happy with how the pictures portray the paint but oh well. When it's done I'll get some pro ones done out in the sun.

Quick update: Went to sand and etch prime the body and fenders last week. It hadn't rained for a few days and humidity wasn't too bad. I went ahead and started spraying and things went downhill fast... Water spots... runs... just crap looking.... I only sprayed the fenders thank god. I was pissed and threw out the etch primer which was crap anyway, will be ordering some better stuff from Sherwin Williams when I get some more money for it and sand and restart. In the meantime I'll rebuild my guns, do some more prep work on the doors and look for a set of mirrors.

Goal is to have her as a nice rolling body (paint, exterior, and interior) done in 5 months time. When I'm back I'll order a better set of rims, coilovers, standalone, and 5 lug conversion. As for the drive train.... We'll see how I feel in a year or two when that's getting built. I have enough to build an S4 n/a right now but I think I may get another junker and turn that into an s4 n/a daily driver and build this as a Sunday driver, weekend warrior type deal.

in the process of flipping a car for some quick cash. Saving for a few things at the moment but need some advice on coilovers. I'm contemplating between 2; powered by max pro and stance pro. price doesn't matter. it is a circuit/ auto cross car.

I've kinda done what your doing. I have a NA FC but I'm still running all factory electronics and my car runs fine and pulls decent I noticed the difference when I ported my car. As far a coil overs I really like my KTS coilovers they were like 1100. I had JIC Magics an blew them after not too long so I didn't really like them but that's just me. Good luck on the build I really like NA rotor cars.

Do a racing beat aluminum flywheel it will make a big differance and a wide band and safc will be very good if you want to keep stock ecu
