MO '90 from Mo.

I'll get around to posting pics later but as I said in my introductory post I came across a free FC and now have plans to keep it a stripped down drift or SCCA car. It's currently a roller with no brakes, which is great for movin' it around. Currently exploring options for trying to source either TII calipers it came with from the factory or other cheap but good alternatives. Engine/Trans is leaning towards a 90s Lt1 or aluminum 5.3 with a 4L60e until I can throw 3k at a T56 setup. Either way the build is something I'm looking forward to. It's quite the pile of excrement at the moment, but I think with some TLC and motivation I could bring it back. It has some offbrand 10 spokes on pirelli tires, probably stock suspension and no real interior so it screams slidey car. Definitely looking forward to learning and tweaking my plan from all the info on this place.

Quick opinion wanted. I have what I stated above. Car has a full dash harness and front harness for the rotary and 5spd. I have the original dash cover and some misc dash parts, can't remember if I have the cluster. Car will be V8 swapped, am I better off pulling the entire harness and selling/scrapping it to start fresh with the LS/LT harness ran through the dash to a fabricated gauge cluster and switch panel, or keep it and adapt everything? I have no plans to keep the heat/AC, a single din and door components would be the most that I'd run. Power windows and power locks would be kept if it even has them. It'll basically have enough to pass MO safety inspection and that's it. I know they're not the lightest but I also have a set of black leather e36 buckets that i'd like to put to use too so that makes at least 3 different manufacturers and 2 different decades of wiring difference....Thank you for any insight you all can contribute.

If it really is a Turbo II model, I would be a little interested in the engine harness, I work all over St Louis. I would keep all the body harnesses intact. All Turbo II models had all the power options. Some companies sell swap kits, I only know of grannys speed shop. They have been around for a long time.

There is some thread on this forum that tells you through the VIN number if it really is a Turbo II. Send me a PM and let me know if you want to get rid of some stuff. Good luck!

I appreciate that, I can pm my number or just follow me at 68shortwide on instagram. It's weird how many people I see from STL on here but never see any around town. I've seen one since I got mine. Lol. Right now it's just getting it to stop, seal, and eventually pass safety inspection lol I need to put windows back on the tracks, seal the hatch and taillight area, and get some calipers for it. Besides that I'm in no hurry.

Finally got a chance to move some parts out of the way and see what I'm up against. The previous owner warned me that it was rusty, and rusty she is! It needs a large patch about 5" long from firewall to rear seat mount on both sides, and some small patches on the quarters/wheel tub areas. It's enough that I'm thankful that I didn't put money into buying it, but not discouraging to the point of abandonment. If anything, it just eases the feelings of LS swapping a T2 car. After some research I'm pretty sure I'll be running a Ronin kit and Tein or ebay special coilovers. Keeping the factory diff and brake system after a thorough rebuild, if anyone has links or advice pertaining to those I'm all ears. Next step is getting all the hardware and parts to get a AC system in place, converted to R134a, heater box mounted, and some sort of ideas for a switch panel and gauges.

There definitely some events in the past year that changed my direction for this build. I've decided to go from building a comfy street car to more of a road course style fair weather driver. Widebody, wide tires, aluminum dash and aftermarket gauges. Still planning on utilizing an aluminum 5.3, manual steering, Tii diff/brakes, wanting to keep this car as light as possible while retaining balance and rigidity. I picked up a second 90, this one a GTU, to build on since the Tii was so rusty. It's the nice medium blue metallic for 1990 but it is a bit rough, it currently is 3 different colors. It being my first IRS 2dr coupe build it really pushed me to build a borderline autocross car while still being reliable enough to run on the highway and around town for fun. Only electronics I'll be retaining will be the power windows and possibly the sunroof (Although if the motors are burned up I'll just seal the sunroof door and be content with the extra weight removed from up top). Currently researching what bulbs are needed to run LED lights for tails, fogs and turn signals/marker lights. Completely rewiring the car and replacing every bushing and seal. Still excited to expand from american land yachts and classic trucks to something light and nimble.
