88 GXL project

So I got this UK model right side drive GXL from a coworker before he moved. Cost me all of $1. It is driveable and the engine and tranny seem solid. It has lots of little surface rust spots and a couple bad cancer spots on the sunroof. Most electronics work.

My issue is that I have to have working headlights, no problem as I just need a bulb for one but both motors work solid and I have to have working wipers for an inspection before i can register it. The wipers are a different story. They seem to work fine on high and mist, but only occasionally work on low and will only work on low for 2-5 seconds before stalling out. I took the wipers off and the linkage out and cleaned/lubed everything but still the same. Does this point to a bad motor? Thanks fellas

Well dang. I guess I will pull the switch and run some checks from that end. I've read a few threads on the switch repair. It doesn't seem too terrible. Thanks for the confirmation. I'll throw some pics up ony way out the door this morning

Cancer spot on the sunroof. It goes all the way through and is pretty nast on the bottom side. The seal where it meets the body is pretty bad too. Thinking of having the body work done to cut and repair the rust and then putting a carbon fiber sunroof in.

Yeah man.. its pretty neat little car. Originally a UK model and then my buddy brought it over to Italy when he moved. He got a new car and to get rid of this one so it took it off his hands. I don't know a whole lot about them, but I'm slowly learning
