Hey,
I'm Ela, here's my drift build... I bought this car back in March of 2011 with the purpose of building a drift car. The day I bought it: Attachment 691322 Attachment 691323 Attachment 691324 |

my first time drifting it all stock :)
Attachment 691263 Attachment 691264 then I got some BC coilovers Attachment 691265 |
i like what your setup you have going on i did the same to my SE how much were your coilovers? and how much weight did the roll cage add im planning of getting one soon
|
Thanks! I got a deal on the coils for $900 (compared to $1400 MSRP) and I'm not sure exactly how much weight but I know when I bought the car it weighed 2638, then I removed all the interior, sound deadening, A/C, ect, but my guess is only 50-100lbs, for the safety and the added structure it's totally worth the weight

Here are some aesthetics to give it my own personal touch, and just to remind people in case they forget that this is a girls car :)

So I drove the car on the stock motor for about a year after I bought it, then in February 2012 I blew an apex seal (engine had about 90,000 miles on it, although not sure how accurate that is). It was time for a new motor. I had a bunch of different 13B's laying around the shop in all different conditions, some with better parts than others so I decided to combine pieces to make the best mix. (never actually taking the motors apart, just matching the miscellaneous pieces). The engine is a S5 TII 13B with a massive street port.

Nice work. It's colorful ha. But I dig it.

Looks good, just bought a T2 in just about the same condition you picked your car up in.

Thanks guys! Hopefully I'll be updating soon, just brought my car to a buddies shop so I can actually work on it, my neighbors were getting pissed at the 3"straight pipe and Gilmer screaming in their window. Have some tuning that needs to be worked out and I'll post some videos :D

but on another note, here's an update: got to drive my car for the first time in over 10 months last week and it feels amazing! still not allowed to boost as I'm still running a stock ECU and it can't handle all the upgrades. Hopefully by the end of the year I'll have a stand alone and some bigger injectors and I'll be back to the track in no time. Here's a pic of all the RX-7's at BHP (Brandner High Performance)! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...208_204243.jpg From left to right: 84 'Es Stupido' LSX Turboooo my 1989 Drift Build 93 Digicamo "The Beater" RX7 |

So I'm starting to prep the car for an intercooler. We have been throwing around the idea of either doing a front mount or v-mount. The intercoolers are both around the same size but the difference in length of piping would be significantly shorter with a v-mount and wouldn't require inner fender cutting. On the other hand the fmic would be cheaper and would happen sooner. What do you guys think?
Attachment 687635 Attachment 687636 Also, on my down time I have started cleaning up the chassis wiring harness, cutting out erroneous plugs Attachment 687637 Attachment 687638 Lastly, a really good friend of mine and also a fellow RX-7 owner got me this for Christmas. I don't think I couldn't thank him enough! Attachment 687639 |
Nice
|
Veryyyy nice!
|
hey bro
|
nice.. who is doing the work?
|
hi mensah, we are making her do a bulk of the work
|
Sweet! I'd either choose vmount, or mount the intercooler directly against the radiator in a sandwich fashion.
|
Hi andrew! Welcome the wonderful world of owning a RX-7. Like Mark said I'm trying to do most of my own work but since I'm not as mechanically inclined as I would like to be I definitely get some guidence from the seasoned vets. For all my fab work (cage, intercooler piping, ect.) I go to Kevin Smith (KSR) in North Florida
|
NICE! im think about putting a aftermarket intercooler on my 89
|
Wow! Nice Ela! I like the bold purple Leopard print. Are you keeping the exterior white? I have no doubt my old parts will go to great use ^_^

I was quite surprised how much wire I didn't need and it was surprisingly heavy. I would say 5-10 lbs or so.
Attachment 682187 Installed the detachable NRG steering hub, finally the steering wheel will sit a couple more inches away from the dash. Maybe now I won't accidently turn the wipers on while I drift. Attachment 682188 Redoing the paint on my cage and doing the interior. Decided to paint the cage first because it's easier to tape that up then to keep over spray off the fresh new interior paint job. finished shot of the new paint job, I love the way way the gold on white pops
Attachment 681127 I bought some white loom and started cleaning up the wiring some more Attachment 681128 Attachment 681129 I'm also designing my own gauge pod :) here's what I have so far and for under $15 I'll be able to say it's custom made, I just hope it turns out the way I want it to Attachment 681130 Attachment 681131 http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...ps7dfc5d5d.jpg going to sand and paint tomorrow |
Looking good!!!
|
