1987 turbo II, 39k original miles

Well, picked up another to go with my 88 Arctic silver. I’m a sucker for stock and low-mile 7’s. Mostly going to keep track of minor projects making this perfect, it’s not far.

demister grills were replaced with black, picked up and oem red set on eBay. As with my 88 the radio does not work so will need to trouble shoot that.

LOVE The red Interior. Slight fad on both seats.

Waiting to load up.

Clean

As stock as it gets.

Actually had a batter cover

Loaded up for a 450 mile road trip.

Have the original s4 tails that will be replaced shortly.

Very clean, I just picked up another Turbo II from Arizona myself. 87, white. You wouldn't happen to be interested in selling those S5 taillights would you?

Fine by me, no rush, The car won't be back to a point where I can work on it until Wednesday. I always did find that color of yours interesting. Awhile back I looked at one in that same configuration, manual steering as well, but it wasn't that clean. Feel free to shoot me a PM with the details about the taillights. Looks like you have a clean candidate on your hands for sure.

Minor victory. Scored what has to be by ones of the last NOS OEM burgundy demister sets. Could only find one guy at rx7 world that had them.

Definitely need more backstory on the Satin Gold 87 TII!!! How many miles are in the car and what is its history? I absolutely LOVE the car!! The very first TII I saw in person was identical to this car. I remember the ride and how beautiful the car was in that color. Wish I could have bought the car then. But this was in the late 90's and I just didn't have the cash then.

A Dr. in Texas bought it brand new, most all of the miles were put on it during the 80’s and 90’s. When he retired it sat in his collection where it was stored properly and inspected yearly. In 2018 he sold it to a guy in Minnesota where it was trailered to and then stored properly again. I had seen it listed on Craigslist for months at 15.9k. After working with the price a bit I decided I’d be kicking myself if I didn’t go get it. I flew from Chicago to Nebraska and then drove a truck and trailer with my dad to pick it up.
I was second guessing paying over 10k but given the market and seeing that a lower mile 10ae just sold for 25k this may actually end up being a bargain.

absolutely love the car and just need to figure out the radio. It’s a car I can’t stop staring at when I’m around.

The speaker tower covers in the car are perfect, but couldn’t pass up a NOS set that’s been sitting eBay forever, nice piece of mind to had as a backup. Was only 50 bucks for the pair which is honestly insane for parts that simply don’t exist anymore.

Great back story honestly! It sounds like the car was well cared for! How many miles are on the car? Great find on the speaker covers! Those are tough to find unbroken, let alone NOS. The maroon interior has always been the toughest to find good parts for as it has a tendency to fade a little. Not as bad as the 85 and 85 maroon interior. The maroon rubber parts would fade to a brown color.

it actually came with an entire spare maroon interior but I didn’t take it all as I didn’t have the room for it all, figured I would take advantage of the common issue parts.

there are 38,900 miles on it currently.

I was initially concerned about it hardly being driven in the past 20 years but it really does seem like it was certainly stored properly and well cared for.

38k miles, wow!! The car is just beautiful and I'm glad that its in great hands! You just don't see them in this condition very often. It was very generous for the seller to offer you a spare maroon interior!! Shame you couldn't take it all. Would have been nice to store for a rainy day. Did the car come with any of the original paperwork, window sticker or service records?

It has a all the glove box goodies and the original inspection sticker in the windshield still.

unfortunately the guy I bought it from misplaced the records and original window sticker, we are still InTouch so I am hoping it will show up eventually.there is a blown up and laminated copy of the original window sticker that was used for car shows so there’s that Atleast.

At least you still have the blown up larger copy and the potential for the seller to find the original one, ideally they will find it.

Luckily my interior is in great shape. However, the speaker piece is cracked, lol. I might make use of my libraries 3D printers at my university.

Unrelated flex. Engine for my Vincent is done. That’s practically the value of a nice FD sitting there

it pains me to let this one go but life choices and a cross-country move ahead of me and I’ve decided to let this one go. I doubt I’ll ever have another this clean.

compression numbers were all around 108 each face front and rear.

Cleaned up and took a bunch of pics, looking good

Got around to installing a working radio, unfortunately didn’t get the antenna to power up but it still gets great reception

Installed blues and racing beat springs with new rubber and top hats

Unbelievable how clean she is

Not a hint of rust

Turns out is a Mazda remanufactured engine

Cleanest underside I’ve seen

I can't say enough how amazing this car is. Finding another in this condition will be extremely difficult. It may take years of searching and a lot of money. If you can hang onto the car, you should. You won't realize how much you miss a car you truly love until you sell it. Might not be right away but that moment will come and it feels like someone punched you in the gut. I've been there more than once. Just something to consider. If you absolutely must part with the car, I wish you the best of luck in getting the right amount of money for the car and finding it a loving home. Someone that will preserve it and not chop it up to drift.
