13B 6 Port N/A to Turbo- 2 much rust from dust.

.

Just find one 13B 6 port, with 6 port, with actuators, but not working ports at all.

Donīt know the pass of this engine, it have some rust on the water passages,
but the inside is usable, (i hope).

Some pics of the engine.

The 5 and 6 port were blocked and not functional on this engine.

As is visible, the 2 ports have the same shape, so there is no place
for the sleeves.

For this i will build something to open and close this doors.

Now, since iīm planing to turbo this engine, after i open it (the first time i open
any engine) i notice the damage that this engine have, donīt know if is lubrication
problem, or because of other problems, so if any one have opinions, please share
them so i can learn with you all.

The stationary bearings are like you can see.

What do you think ?,,, missing oil or from normal usage ?

I want to rebuild this engine, but donīt want it to become like this if i make
the same mistake, or other mistakes.

The housings are ok, also the rotors have good looking.

Waiting for someone opinion, tanks in advance.

Try if can to do a ultrasonic cleaning at the engine housings (engine plates) and check for cracks, the rust should come out, also check at the cooling groves for corrosion at all three plates make sure that they can hold the seals. You said that the rotor housings and the rotors are ok, if that is the case you good to go for a rebuilt. You want to go turbo, there are some other options, but check first if the plates are good!

Wonder why that engine had that lower intake on. The EDM engines I thought always had the butterfly valves for the 6pi function.

Yes, i have it ready for sand blast, cover all the parts that are
sensitive and not for sand cleaning, about cracks i didnīt see any
at the moment.

The grooves are ok, no metal missing, just little rust.

How about ask a workshop to pass it on a machine for a surface
passage ? (sorry English is my second language, donīt know
how to call it)

Yes, i already have RA master rebuild Kit, with classic apex 2mm,
but now i need the 4 bearings, donīt know if i go with the modified
3 windows or original, what is your opinion for a engine from 250
to 400Hp ?

Yes i want to go turbo, i have read a loot about it, considering the
Turbo II oil pump, and some other things.

Since iīm collecting parts, you opinion is welcome, tell me if it was
your engine, what modifications and what you do to the inside of
the engine.

Iīm in Portugal, so here not many options and parts for this engine.

Tanks for your replay

Here in Europe the 5 and 6 ports almost didnīt exist, i donīt know
the history of this engine, but the LIM donīt match the type of ports,
is like you say, it should have the butterfly system instead of the
sleeves, thats the reason the 5 and 6 ports were closed and not
working on that LIM, now i will have to add 2 butterfly's for 5 and
6 ports.

One advantage is the shape of that 2 ports, the curves are smooth and
will be ported for more air.

I have try to find that other system with butterflyīs but never find it, do you
have any pictures of it ?

Yes SpikeDerailed, that is exactly what iīm planing to do, only
difference will be how to actuate them, also the 2 butterflyīs will
be connected so they can open at same time and angle.

Tanks for the photos.

Unlike the usdm aux port which are opened by positive pressure, the butterfly valves are opened by vacuum and a solenoid. Higgi sent me a video of the manifold I got off him opening around 12inHg of vacuum.

Here we call it housing lapping, my opinion you can but the problem with lapping is that you can not removed more than .003ths on the surface and not everybody can do a good lapping job, you can use some valve grinding compound and 400 sand paper and clean a little bit on all 4 sides of the housings, just a light cleaning up and down not side ways with sand paper. It will work.

The 3 window bearing you can use if you have 93 and up stationary gears, specially if you are going turbo, don't know if you have them or not, If not, you can put the harden or race type bearing at the stationaries. The rotors you can use factory ones.

There is so many options when you go turbo all depends in how much you want to expense, can you find 93-95 stationary gears? how about a S-5 lower intake? what engine management are you using? What turbo you going to use? Let me know Thx!

Hi, not much to expense for the moment, what about the the
93-95 stationary gears ?... are they stronger ? or any other
advantages ?

Donīt know if i can get that, but with S-5 LIM i will lose 5 and 6
port actuation correct ?

I have not decide about the turbo yet, still learning about many things.

The goal is a street car, from 250 to 300 or 350hp, it will depend
on the modifications that i can do, and the parts i can find.

Already have the Turbo II gear box to support the extra power.

Tanks in advance, regards.
