No i havent done any of my 1st gens since theyre in good condition and im proud to say i have plenty of good replacement parts. Did you prime the plastic? I dont trust them cans that says primer included. Once it is chipped, they will flake. IIRC, my RX-3s plastics have 2-3 coats of primer (sat in SOCAL summer heat for hours in-between sprays) prior to final paint.

No, I didn't prime the plastic, just cleaned it really really well. I'm wondering if I can use some of my Aerospace 303 on it for UV protection... May try a spare piece just to see what the paint does.

So I've decided to put my spare seats and door cards in the SE:

These are from the parts '84 GSL that the seller included access to in the sale. I'd been trying to sell them but haven't gotten any serious bites.

I was all set to repair the bolster on the existing driver's seat, but that's more money, and the bottom fabric would have to be replaced too; it's so worn and stained. Some days I really despise my car's POs.

I shampooed the replacement seats and door card fabric last night; they really cleaned up well. I'm quite pleased.

Seats and door panels have been cleaned and installed:

I also painted the console bezel with this stuff:

It's too light but at least it's clean. Oh well.

Me too. Unfortunately our finances are what they are at this point and the mold situation in our rental property won't wait...

That really sucks. I'm in a money crunch myself so I get what you are going through. If selling the car is the only way to get your family through the problem then it served its purpose. GLWS

Hey, it won't let me reply on your classifieds ad, but what part of Tennessee are you in? I'm coming from georgia. Thanks!

Also, did the drivers headlight ever get fixed?

I'm in Chattanooga, in the southeastern corner of the state.

No, the driver's headlight motor has not been fixed. I meant to go pull that from the parts car but never got around to it. If you want to stop by the parts car on your way out and grab parts, you're more than welcome to; I'll draw you a map to it.

If you want the car PM if you can. I have two guys from CL bearing down on it as well.

Took a deposit on it. New owner should be coming to get it on Wednesday. Puerto Rican father and son, dad builds rotaries. Has a 20B first-gen and a couple of FDs. At least it'll be going to someone who knows what they've got...

Final pics. The new owner picked it up on Sunday and drove it back down to southern AL.

Weirdly I'm not all that broken up to see it go. I didn't do much to it except really clean the interior and collect the parts to restore the exterior.

I overpaid for it anyway. I paid $2900 for it, and while that including access to the seller's parts car, considering everything that was wrong with it, it was a $2K car tops. So I learned that.

I also learned that honestly, I'm more of a 12A guy. I like the act of pulling the choke to start the car and the simplicity of the setup. I also like fitting properly in my cars, so if I get another FB, chances are very good I'll be after a manual-window, no-sunroof 12A car. An S, in other words.

Cheers, all!
