Now I have a question for you. I have an Atkins serpentine pulley kit. Should I swap it onto mine? I just noticed today that my stock main drive pulley has a bit of unsightly rust starting. Or just repaint and go with dual v-belts?
That would solely depend on what you would like to do and nothing wrong with my stock pulleys I repainted them but wanted to try another set up while being aware of the noise that comes with them.

If I'm not satisfied with these ones I will sell them used and go back to,stock with the dual alt pulley

When I got my first RX7 I was hella concerned about possible lack of traction on the water pump. So I made a duel pulley on my alternator on my gold car.

On the red car I figured I'd give the single belt a shot. and what do you know. It works fine. I don't get over heating issues or slippage. I've been thinking about a stretch belt just to fill in the void.

That pulley kit looks cool though. I've thought about it, but Jeff said it "makes loud" and I want no part of that. I guess it depends on how loud.

yeah I was 100% aware of the noise it makes and depending on how your idle and port is it can be pretty loud now i'm personally okay with that and as I had said before I'm not getting rid of my Stock pulleys I already repainted them if I feel like this setup is not for me I will sell them and just get the double Alt Pulley and run two belts.

but yeah I just want some flavor to my engine part of why I bought them but mainly because I liked the big belt it ran and wanted to try it out see if it was better if not I will just go back to stock maybe even give them to a buddy.

I will be working on the car Sunday all day to get Bushings and brake stuff all put in and ready to go so the car can be drive worthy and safe before the engine makes it's way back in.

i'm so excited for this rebuild!!~

So today is Sunday the 22nd My plans to get all the suspension and brakes done shall commence once I,get off work and get some sleep.

I'm hoping once that is done I can finally get some real rest I have been very anxious and not getting enough rest for the past 2 weeks because I have lots to do and have very little time to accomplish anything.

Shortly after I get my rotor kit I will hopefully the next week following to start putting the keg back together.

So me and my buddies found 3 first gens two of which can and will be saved and one that is gonna be used for parts.

We offered $1200 for all 3 I have pictures of of the two that Will run but We were in a hurry after looking them over that I,didn't get engine pictures but the carbs are pretty clean but non of the cars have ran in months and one car has water in the spare tire section and the fuel tank is destroyed and the other one was put in an open barn and has animal feces and smells like urine needs tires and suspension work but should fire right up with a little tune up work.

Also I lied I got engine bay pictures of the two will run and I was mortified by the white one that I could not take pics it made me cry a little.

I hope we break this guy because if they don't get sold all of them are getting crushed and he wants almost $1500 a car so we offered him only $1200 for all and already siad it was a fair offer see what happens next.

If you have questions comments please do I want to save at least two of them so that will be two more saved from the scrap yard.

If I wasn't so far away I'd throw you some cash to "buy in" for some engine parts.

And those grey seats at least look nice in the pictures.

Yeah they do the blue car is the best looking one and the last car to actually have been running but still hasn't been started in a while it's probably 500miles shy of an oil change based on how the oil looks but it looks kept up with cause the dipstick was lookin promising.

But a little story on them the guy who originally owned them did pass away and he loved these cars but his brother however does not and really does not care to keep them he knows they are getting hard to find but still favors to crush them for a few bucks now we believe we threw hom a reasonable deal and we can even haul all 3 car a back to our shop in one day and pretty quickly at that.

He already admitted on the phone with all of us listening that 1200 was a reasonable offer he owns a business and tried throwing that salesman pitch but it won't work with is because he runs a towing business and a mechanics shop threw the ASE certification on us and two of us are normal certified mechs and the other is ASE certified as well so it was really hard to fall for his tricks and sov stories and,his brother even has a few turbo datsun 240z laying around and tried offering with no luck on those of course.

Anyways it's hard to fool 3 guys who are currently working on a 12a mazda rx7 at this very moment for prices he thinks are fair we told him we have it all in cash right now waiting on him to sell and that we have a truck and a trailer big enough to haul them off asap.

An update.

I have been pretty busy fixing a few customers cars and have not had time to work on the Mazda got started stacking some of the engine but have to reorder my corner seal plugs I had one fall on the ground and I forgot to pick it up and it got swept up and thrown away.

as for everything else suspensions and brakes are done and the car is ready for the engine and the transmission to go back in.

also we got those 3 rx7's plus an extra possibly running motor with a ton of spare parts when we are done being so busy with other peoples cars we are gonna work on getting mine out of the shop and the others into it so we can get those ones running and back on the road.

got any questions just ask.

is the rx7 club app broken cause I can't even find it on the google app store anymore. D:

so I played around with the spare motor we got sprayed it down with wd-40 and rotated that thing for a few hours when we finish putting in the steering we are going to re-gasket the outside of the motor and see if we can get some decent compression numbers out of it and just leave it in mine and finish the other one the way we want it to be built.

the dream is still 12A large streetport with low boost and tons of fun.

I will post pictures to my facebook and link them here so I don't have to go to photobucket.

Clean bell housing.

I started to wipe mine out, but that's about as far as I went.

haha yeah a pressure washer can really do wonders when you use degreaser.

any who the plan is finish mine up pull in the blue one clean all the needles on it then pull the black one in rebuild the whole carb put a battery in lube the engine up and turn it should fire it was running last year so don't see why not right?

as it is when we have them all running we are going to take them up to boise, Idaho because of the abundance of 2nd and 3rd gen rx7's and rx8 that don't see first gens everyday.

good way to celebrate them getting back on the road right with fellow rotary engines?

With all those cars you could make a dirt track and rent them out for races.

It's been awhile since I've updated my thread so figured now was the time.

The car has been sitting for a few months at a buddies house to far for me to take time away from my 6 day work week with my rest as much as you can 1 day off.

However if I can find someone to help me pull the car closer to me. I can fi,ally finish up my final step of the rebuild process and tune the carb out I will have a nice fresh car ready for Seven Stock next year.

The 97' Subaru Legacy wagon's front bumper is the same height as the first gen RX7's rear bumper. You can push an RX7 for MILES with a Subaru. Ask me how I know

Sadly the steering is not hooked up so it would need to be trailered.
