the dvd is not just for me as it is for a few of my budidies who are interested on how to rebuild their own 13B's but I guess they don't want to spend time listening to arrons gentle wise words of rotary.

I have already been watching some of them and understand what I need to do just waiting on the parts to come in.

I have been told they have the best one so why not right? Anyways parts are on the way when I get the motor home once again After I port it out at work I'm gonna take a break and see about this miata for sale down the street I test drove it yesterday handles really well pretty lively but my wife is against another sports car I told her it got great gas mileage and only has 89k miles better then the work truck my bosses want to sell me that has 269k miles.

They use new parts for the whole engine, which makes them assemble it one shot , it's pretty concentrated
which makes the DVD I bit short (1hr ish) but it's good

What kind of porting are you going for ?
Did you order they're porting video too ?

A truck is not a bad idea...totally different from a miata, that's for sure , it does allows you to carry Way more stuff and tow cars in the event of something bad happening,268miles tho..Is it a diesel ?

no it is not a diesel they wouldn't sell me the the old deisel truck no one wants to drive I want it because its stick shift I have serviced it myself and know its in good health but they wont give it up but someday.

I would rather have the miata just because im a small car person and my wife already has a truck and if im gonna get a truck it will be a brand new one that I like lol but sadly I don't have enough to put towards a nice shiny new diesel.

also i'm going for a streetport simple and basic and just make a few extra ponies so it can keep up on highway driving and still be terrible on gas to travel xDD

and I should put a price on these to vehicles the truck my boss wants to sell me is for $800 and the miata is for $8k which is not to bad for a miata it was really taken care of outside looks great the inside is not all torn up a couple of black stains from shoes but nothing torn dash is not cracked. now the truck has a a badly damaged dash with a big hole in it you can smell exhaust in the vents when you have the heat on the differential leaks the transmission leaks a small amount and the air filer box won't seal on the intake portion of the throttle.

ida know I kinda want fuel economy over a hauling truck because if I need a truck to use I can just barrow one of the many my friends already have that they don't drive because they drive small sports cars like me. xD

??? what's the fun in that?!

Anybody can assemble an engine with new parts (Chinese children ages 2-6 build HF lawnmower engines all day). The challenge is re-building an engine. As in determining what parts can be reused, and what is DONE. And that all comes down to experience, or buying all brand new parts.

As for the truck or the MX5... Get both. But don't spend 8k on a MX5. Find one for closer to 2. OR do What I did and find an MX5 and get a utility trailer.

I would avoid the MX5 and the truck, and pour all the money into the 7. You're doing a turbo, right?

anyways the rex is gonna get running the Miata i'm putting on the back burner for now chances are it will still be for sale at that price gonna finish rebuilding the engine and fix everything else little at a time.

I just just need the rx7 running for now and I will slowly pay into breaks and other things of the such cause I want to swap in a 13b transmission and differential before I get it boosted. I plan on retiring the rx7 from normal everyday use by the time I have all of it good to go so I can have something that is economical and cheaper to maintain until I can finish up school and get that bill out of the way.

so basically when the engine is running the project is really gonna slow down a lot more till I save up for a new daily driver I really wanna drive the rx7 but only on the weekend for fun and to go out of town when I have time to do so.

You're falling into the same trap too many others on this forum have. When you mod your car too much, it can't be driven very much anymore. I'm not interested in that outcome so my build avoids anything that triggers that potential.

Stiff suspension? Nope, still stock but it looks like the PO swapped in some new strut inserts (you can see some chew marks on the large thin collars).

Stiff clutch? Light flywheel? Nope, just a Racing Beat street strip on an ACT "HD" disc and a light steel flywheel. The pedal is a perfect 5 on my scale from 1 to 10.

Loud exhaust? Nope, just loud enough (I actually would like it a bit quieter because I don't have any back carpets due to rat and water damage). No headliner either due to similar damage.

Big carb? Expensive EFI? Nope, just a hogged Nikki that has great driveability and can be tuned for boost.

Loud external fuel pump? Nope, well it's external because I'm NOT doing an inconvenient internal pump like so many others, but it is NOT loud anymore. I swapped in a couple of stock rubber standoffs and now it's whisper quiet.

The brakes are still stock and work fine for a daily driver. Same with the steering. No need for a big brake kit or rack and peanut steering like some others have done. I did install a MOOG idler arm though, which is awesome.

I could go on but I won't. Sorry to clutter your thread but I disagree with turning the 7 into a weekend warrior or out of towner. Just sounds like you have limited faith in your abilities to keep the 7 an awesome to drive car that you love so much you gotta drive it every day. Why? Because that's how mine is, even though it lacks a rear carpet and the exhaust is kinda louder than I'd like, being a full 3" due to the turbo (I could redo it to a 2.5" with just a 3" DP and it'd be just fine, just lack funds). Do you see what I'm saying? When you mod your car too much, it becomes less driveable. Just food for thought.

Damn your right I have read many threads now leading to what I'm trying to do now. I will rethink my position on this I do want to see it running again and for the reason that I enjoyed it before.

You know jeff you make quite the sense I will still turbo it mainly because I have parts and a lot of stuff done already in preparation for it. I will do my best to stick with the original plan.

Awesome! I got mine back up and running today after sitting since December. It got a clutch job and a redone fuel system according to Mallory's instructions. No more floodiness!

The clutch and turbo are fresh so I couldn't boost it yet, but the way it drives, even keeping my foot out of it, reminded me why I got into these things. This will make an amazing daily driver that I would love to drive every day, and enjoy on the weekends!

And I don't keep secrets. I'll post more to my build thread when I'm a little less tired. Big day spent on the 7.

Its good to hear you got yours running again.

I'm still looking for a turbo right now but not in need of it yet since the Engine is not running yet but its nice to have all the parts needed still figuring out how i'm gonna run it I have an opportunity to make a custom turbo set up that I have had in mind and will make the car look completely stock until you look in front of the radiator and see the air cooler

its just a neat Idea but might not be practical anyways I will probably put talk more into it when the engine is back in and the car is drivable.

Look for an S4 or S5 turbo. They're a little small for a 13B but just right for a 12A!

I went with an S5 because it nestles nicely at the intake manifold and only needed a thin steel spacer (7/16"). An S4 could also probably have been used but I had access to an S5.

Even though it's on a 13B, it has plenty of power for me so far. Keep that in mind; small turbo has plenty of power. Perfect for a daily driver and for weekends. They're also easier to install because there is no external wastegate to have to plumb in.

Agree with Jeff20B....

I went the modded route and the things that ruined the car was making it too loud and less reliable. My favorite time with the car was minor carb mods, exhaust and racing beat springs and sway bars. Simple, reliable, and was such a joy. If i had more funds available to maintain the more complex swaps, I'd do it but I'm not made of money. Just my 2 cents

I'm pretty excited to get my carb rebuild kit not sure how to get the throttle arms back together I figured all the jets. And small pieces out

Also does black dragons kits come with instructions just in case?

So I checked my mail and everything is here my DVD and my carb rebuild kit which has a lot of stuff in it that I haven't even seen on the carb during disassembly but with the instructions I should be able to get my throttle links back together fine.

got off work saw that I had some Extra cash and got new bushings for everything, got some pulleys because I wanted to run a bigger belt without hearing the V-ribbed one slip like mine was, water pump and a manual just in case I need some info on something I don't understand.

I have never been so excited buying stuff I feel as giddy as a school girl!!~

Get ready for loud because that's what those pulleys do. They make loud.

Now I have a question for you. I have an Atkins serpentine pulley kit. Should I swap it onto mine? I just noticed today that my stock main drive pulley has a bit of unsightly rust starting. Or just repaint and go with dual v-belts?
