BC Life is like a box of chocolates :)

Life is full of surprises. Picked this up for a great price. TII complete with FD rotating assembly, S5 turbo, Microtech LT8 with harness and a ton load of accessories including a FMIC, AFR,driveshaft and gearbox. Once again, I called on my pal Steve at Rotary Motorsports and he actually checked out the engine since it was located close to his place. End result, I've purchased the package and the engine is currently in Steve's care undergoing a tear down, refresh and a bit of porting
Hope to have it installed next spring!

Just now got the time to pick through your thread after our conversation. Picking up the fresh built TII was the right choice. You will make reliable STRONG power. Later on if you feel the need for more power it will be simple. New manifold, injectors, turbo, and some water/meth injection. Whole lot of room for fun for years to come.

Super clean GS by the way. If you have any more questions I'm always available.

BC Thanks guys

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys it really means a lot. Its great having forum members that have gone through this process and are willing to share tips about their builds and some of their trials and tribulations. Learning from the wiser heads helps ensure I don't make costly mistakes and stay on the right path in my search for more POWER!
Raceratheart, the headlights were an eBay buy. There are tons of different styles available and even HID options. They were also super cheap, only cost $60 for the pair and they're H4 bulbs. Difference in comparison to the original headlights is amazing. I can actually see at night now!
FCinWV, your build is what really inspired me. Remember at the start you mentioned that you were going blow through and then switched to the ITBs and I was questioning you about that stuff. That's what made me try the blow through route. Luckily I got all the components from one seller and they're in fantastic condition. I'll hold on to them for now because you never can tell. I may pick up another FB at some point and install it
For now I'm just enjoying the joy of ownership of this fantastic car and looking forward to performing the swap and really making her fly. But for now, I just enjoy polishing her up in the garage and dreaming of roads without snow and long open stretches where I can push that needle up into the triple digits

Essentially went drove me to efi was the fact i got a free adaptronic ecu. Before that i was going blowthrough. Oddly enough i find it easier to just go efi. Much more information, less headaches, and more tuneability.

Glad i could inspire someone haha ! Keep up the excellent work !

BC Its snowing!!!

Damn! The white stuff is coming down fast and furious both in BC and in Scotland. Glad my girl is safely parked in a nice, warm garage this season. Must say, I do miss my Sunday evening drives around the Okanagan region. C'est la vie, we'll be back at it in next spring after the swap. Something to look forward to on these cold, dark, dreary winter days.

BC The saga continues

I've changed my mind about simply cleaning up the large street port and instead opted for a half bridge port on the new motor. I guess I'm addicted to the brap, brap, brap
Steve is porting the motor this week. I have another tough decision to make. Should I pin the motor or not? The maximum safe hp level for an unpinned motor is about 300hp I've been told. The current setup has the potential to pass that figure with good porting and good engine management.
Should I leave it alone and just use restraint and keep things at a safe level? Or should I spend the extra $$$ and get it pinned and shoot for the stars in terms of hp? I already have a water-meth kit in hand for higher boost charges

Nice journey so far. Car is looking great! Be careful for the power bug though as there is no end to that quest.

If you're going boosted I would. That's great! I'll have to pop in this week and take a peek at it.

BC Little update

Work is progressing on the T2 motor. Steve has finished porting, painting and reassembling the keg It's starting to feel like a true project in the making.
Just placed an order for a couple parts to solve some nagging problems. Drove Rexy recently and realized that she was pulling to the right. I checked air pressure etc. and all looked good. Still pulling to the right. So, I took her to get her suspension checked and alignment done. Turns out the right side idler arm needs replacing.
I'd been contemplating a suspension overhaul for quite a while but time and finances never seemed to coincide . Visions of a full Energy suspension bushing kit and RB sway bars front and back along with the lowering springs.....I've secured a set of RB springs and just ordered a pair of Moog idler arms. I've heard great things about the Moog suspension parts so I bit the bullet and forked over the cash. Parts should be here in 2 weeks time. Rock Auto really has everything you can think about for the RX and their prices are very reasonable!
A couple forum members have expressed interest in the blowthrough turbo components so I'm officially placing it on the market for sale. Running some parts through my homemade parts washer and will give them a proper clean up and get rid of grease, grime and dirt. The lucky buyer will have an awesome system in his hands for a hella cheap price since I'm selling it for exactly how much I paid for it.
Pics will follow the jump.

BC Quick update

Well it's been a while and there's really not that much to report. The engine is completed and installation has been placed on the back burner for now. Life somehow always conspires to get in the way of builds and projects
LOL, I'm doing some home renovation and as such, don't have the time or available finances to perform the install right now. My slapdash solution is that everything has been brought to my town and is safely tucked away in a storage locker. Like Gollum, I visit regularly and caress my treasure trove of parts and other precious items
My precious will have to remain hidden away in the dark until summer time (I'm hoping!)
