I've shot a few cars with a single stage paint. Acrylic Enamel kits I've bought on Ebay, and the premixxed stuff you buy at autozone. I've not ever had luck with Base coat clear coat..mainly because I'm just not patient enough I think. The Acrylic Enamel kits I've gotten on ebay with the Gloss Hardener, seem to work very well. And can't beat the price. I bought a good gravity feed gun, and my dad now had a bigger compressor...so I'll try to throw some before and after pics up in the next month or so.

Do you have any pics of something you've shot w/the ebay ecrylic enamel...??

I have experience with the bodywork end but have never painted yet. I'm nearing my 1st gen being ready for paint real soon, I'd like to do it myself.

Should've taken the whole car apart to paint thats how we do it, and when we paint mine we will do it like that

Not really... when you take the entire car apart you don't get any poor masking lines. Even the best masker can't beat removing the part like tail lights, antenna, door handles, locks, etc... These cars are soo easy to take apart it's worth the extra effort.

I been reading up elsewhere / other forums on painting b/c I'm getting REAL close to shooting my own car myself. There was a write-up that caught my attention... It's the 8th post down.

I did a similar job to dress up the previous owners work. I wanted to get the car back on the road without much downtime. I had three day weekend, so I tried the $50 paint job. It came out good, and I still haven't clear coated it yet. It does include wet sanding and buffing the car, but a gloss finish provides a decent appearance on its own. I recently bought an HVLP spray gun and a compressor. I plan to resand and spray a cosmetic coat.
The perk of the $50 paint job is I have decent mils, and I got all the hard to paint areas.
Your job looks decent, and once you wetsand and rebuff. Your paint job will look much more smooth and glossy.
