Officer, is it really safe for a driver to take photgraphs while operating a motor vehicle at 40+ mph?

it could be there. however, i originally posted it in the non tech section as its kind of a rolling restoration so to speak. and i enjoy sharing other projects with my fellow first gen owners.

well is anything ever safe lol? but to answer your question, it probably was not entirely safe. hence me waiting until there was no traffic, lol.

How did you get a 944 in such nice condition? Every 944 I've ever seen is junk or barley running.

it's looking good.

From the pics it looks like if you got a little touchup paint on that car, it would look really good.

its been awhile since i've updated. had so many things going on. the last thing i did a few nights ago was clay bar the hood, right fender, header panel and headlights and buff and wax them. the paint is shot but this small amount of effort really brought back a shine! i also did the right quarter panel as well. .

Clay barring does a lot, I detailed cars 2 summers ago and it really does take off those annoying small circles that are left from dust/water debris.
Hint 1. Keep the paint wet! If you dont it will scratch instead of clean, which you really do not want.
Hint 2. Keep it light, dont push. Just let it glide on the water on the surface.
Hint 3. Put the time in, learn how to use it properly and it will work wonders for ya

I use detailing spray rather than water when claybarring. Does wonders, and the car feels like ice when you're done.

I strange thing about compareing the 944 and the fb (both of mine are 84's) is the the 944 electrics (among other things) are anceint seeming compared to the fb.( for early years like ours) I guess this is because of the 944 being based of the much older 924.

i don't know why this is, but my son Grant is always talking about the Porsche.. he even says "Porshuh" which i find admirable, lol. every time he sees one in a book or on t.v. he goes crazy for it, lol. every night i have to lift the cover and he has to sit in my 944... its like heaven to that kid, lol. i don't mind because he's following in dad's footsteps and he's taking an interest in things other than toy trains and hot wheels, lol. anyone else have kids that flock to their car?

Its an 83 with aprox 130k on it (odmoiter gear is broken) i have the service records on it from new till 95k then they stop. Once the mechaincals are sorted id like to put the newer turbo front end on, and fix up the interior a bit. runs and drives fine, but i still think about the day ill be doing the clutch. looks to be a pain.

When you took the speedo out, it looks like the whole guage unscrews, is that how you did it? The write ups I found have you take the whole cluster out which Id rather not do
