Thanks I appreciate the support. This was my first rebuild and it's a hobby car so not too stressed about doing it again. Just hoping to get it done before summer so I can enjoy it finally!

Bad news guys...Front rotor/housing is toast...

I can't sell what broke but the last picture scares me. I didn't the have the stomach to open up the motor but saw enough in the exhaust port to kill the day.

That'll be another day...

Some incriminating bolt thread marks impacted on rotor left side of pic. Do you recall any bolts/hardware that had to be replaced on reassembly as original could not be found? Yes,rotor housing,rotor... good news, not a 12A,parts are easier to source. Sorry to see this,at least now no more wondering what/why. At least everything is relatively clean this time around. Have had this happen on a fresh engine build/startup myself, know how you must feel. Bright spot-not a daily driver.

At least you know your ability to assemble an engine and get it running is ok, as the rear rotor is fine. You just need to pay more attention to what goes into the engine after assembly. Maybe there was a small loose bolt sitting inside your intake manifold that you didn't know about. Maybe it fell in at some point when it was off of the engine.

Unfoturnately I got the car with the engine removed and a ton of boxes with mixed parts. I it was mixed up with a TurboII motor so I had to find out what was meant for this car or extra parts. Scary, but thankfully pieced it back together. The only thing i can think of is when I replaced the FPD on the fuel rail. I had to remove the Intake to get to the fuel rail, but made sure to tape up the intake, but who knows at this point.

Yeah I made sure to cover all the intake and exhaust ports with tape. I will know more once I open it up. Makes me wonder if something was in there from the beginning or if something fell in when I replaced the FPD. I did drive it around for 200 miles before it wouldn't run. Wonder at what point the screw fell in?

I have 3-4 people offering to sell me rotors/housings so I should be in good shape here soon. Should I use the pair I buy (keep them together or piece a new housing/rotor with the good once I still have?

You need to weigh the two rotors to make sure they are close in weight to each other. The FSM should have the actual spec.

Well I was finally able to open the engine up after the long winter and we are down the front Rotor/Housing. Thanks to Rich and Robert for assisting me with finding new Rotors and a replacement housing. I am in the process of ordering new Apex Seals, Side Seals, and closing gasket kit. Robert will be lending me his expertise and will guide my next rebuild scheduled for July 15th.

Oh and here is the damage from what appears to be a rouge screw? I drove the car 200 miles before it coughed up something so I have no idea how this happened.

More updates as the rebuild prep continues!!!

Rebuild kit is ordered and housing is on its way. Should be able to make good progress with prepping everything for the rebuild on the 15th.

I also am sending off the injectors to be serviced and buying new connectors.

So much easier to clean parts that aren't covered it dirt and oil from 20 years of driving!

Cool. That little edge of missing chrome is nothing worry about. The atkins seals will break in to those very quickly.

Yes I heard they are flaking in the least critical area so I was ok with it. Plus being $50 made it a good deal right?

Got the side seals clearanced today. Just have the final cleaning of small parts. I also upgraded to FD corner seal springs and Atkins solid corners (at least it cost more so it's better right?)

Robert (RW-7) is coming up to assist with the rebuild on Saturday. Super appreciative for his knowledge and giving up a Saturday to help me!!!

I don't know about the solid corner buttons, but the FD springs are much easier to work with than the paper clip looking springs.

Block is back together thanks to Robert (RW-7). Also was an awesome day to hang out and do rotary things with an old friend.

Next steps are to get the motor back in. My engine hoist isn't long enough so rather than bang up the fender or bumper, I will need my time getting the engine back in once i have an extra set of hands available. Im hoping to make some progress this week. More to come as work gets done!

We got an engine installed!!! Huge that's to my neighbor for getting this installed. The whole underside is finished as well (exhaust, starter, trans, etc)

Next is all the topside goodies! I blocked everything off especially well this time. No rogue screws in my 6-ports!!!

Update on the project, I have been commuting for the last couple weeks. Lots of power and runs very well. Sorting out some high idle issues, but it's been awesome to drive. Thanks RW-7 for the help on the rebuild!
