The car turned out great! I can appreciate all the hard work that went into the restoration.

Did you have to drill into the body to install the targa band?

Beautiful restoration! What did you do to restore the tail lights? Also where did you purchase the carpet from or did you dye it? I am assuming you got all the Mazda OEM parts from Mazda when they still made them? Very curious on what went into this restoration. Thanks

the tail lights I took apart and cleaned. It was a couple sets to get good inner diffusers. Most were melted looking. Reglued them. Clear coated them with sikkens clear coat. New rubber seals from Phil’s rotary in Australia. The carpet was dyed using liquid dye from kings detailing. Most new parts were bought from Mazda or from black dragon. Back when they were in business.

If I could buy it new I did. If not I refurbished myself.

doing a little work on the car. New injectors. Not old cleaned ones. These are fully made new. Also new pulsation dampener.

Re-oiled the KN air filter.

Working on the audio system. These are NOS JL Audio speakers from back in the day. There mid woofer speakers with crossovers and tweeter. Had to use spacers as the speaker depth is too much. Have 4 inch upfront with the tweeter mounted below. 6.5 in the rear. Using a small kenwood amp to power the speakers. Still running the 10 inch mtx road thunder amp/woofer combo box. Redoing the wiring with new fuse at battery and a 2 way fused splitter for the amps. Going with a kenwood receiver to replace the old alpine. Upgrading the battery ground to 0 gauge wire.

Also have a 130 amp alternator to put on. Will take pics of that later.

Good stuff!

Did you consider putting the tweeters on the A pillar? Back in the day I did that and the sound stage was excellent.

yes I did. But I want the interior to look as stock as possible. So down low I went with them. Also why the receiver is in the glovebox. Not too concerned about the sound quality. I had these speakers for years that i was going to put in my MR2. But decided to use them in this car. I didn’t need to redo the audio but I get bored and like to make projects.
