Nice looking build so far, good luck with getting the paint off, can you get some aircraft paint stripper? That and a wire wheel can work good, you have to let them soak overnight though.

Does that doner car have a good left tailight cover? I need just the cover for my car

I believe it does. I'm hauling it home today. I'll have some updates and better pictures this weekend probably. I'm going to make a part out thread most likely after I grab what I need.

Been a bit since an update. The GSL-SE has ben stripped down and sold along with the engine.

Pulled the front crossmember and rear end with LSD plus all axles with slotted rotors.

Ended up finding a few goodies including this.

And also found some bad things like this dent on one of my rotor housings.

So plans coming up in the near future,

-Order poly bushings and Racing Beat sway bars.
-Get suspension bolted back up.
-Clean entire car and prep under side and engine bay for paint.
-Find a t2 tranny and s4 rotor housing.
-Send out irons/housings for lapping.

Hey im down in Santa Rosa if you need any input. What are your plans with the car overall. Just power? With the GSL-SE axle, you can get yourself into the 2nd gen subframe up front using the 4 lug FC hubs and all that.

a little write i did once on it. The FC subframe in an FB RX-7 - Build Race Party

Also go you still have the GSLSE? i need the spacer between the brake booster and the firewall....

No the car is gone. I'll probably keep it all original up front with the exception of the the Black Tie Racing R&P steering that is currently in development. Going full T3 coilover setup in front with Racing Beat bars.

Santa Rosa, you're not the guy who just recently picked up my 13b are you?

The T3 top hats are puny little things.

Why are you going Polyurethane?

^^^I totally agree with Alex here... T3 stuff isn't built up to handle any sort of rally work. My buddy is drifting at Sonoma with their gear on a 5.0 swapped FB, but he's already had issues. He says nothing but positive things, I have yet to see the car handle exceptionally well.

It's going to be a minaly street / maybe swing at the track here and there car. The T3 stuff seems to be built pretty well. I know z guys and hatchi guys that hold them up pretty high.

Can anyone recommend an alternative full coilover setup for the FB?

There are dozens of threads on this. Stance also has their cheap taiwanese stuff on the FB market now.

You're welcome to copy my Varishock configuration.

for the front, all the coilover products are essentially the same thing since they are stuck with the factory spindle. T3, GC, REspeed all use(d) the same approach since its quite literally the same thing but a different color. What really matters is the damper that gets inserted. My vote is the Bilstein P30 since its about the best choice and the valving can be changed.

Hey Whizbang,

Are these the Blisten inserts you are talking about? I am looking into getting a set, would these be better than the Koni inserts?

just call mazdamotorsports. The part numbers have changed a few times over the years so i'm not exactly sure whats current. I *think* it was more like a 924. Anywho, you need a bushing and nut for the inserts too. You could probably also call Bilstein.
