Finished running the new fuel line, ran a little short on the fuel injection hose, have to get more tomorrow, also started to mock up the v Mount.

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...83f1123802.jpg

Heres where i got so far, only the top part of the radiator is bolted up, measured where the bottom has to be and how im going to mount it, and how to mount the intercooler and oil cooler

The intercooler is sitting too high in this picture, that was the only way I could have it sit there on its own so I could take measurements, going to home depot now to get met at to make the rest of the brackets that i need, also thinking about getting 2 small electric fans for the oil cooler

Jeff20B 02-27-16 07:43 PM

Erick, have you considered mounting the intercooler down in front of the rad? I guess I don't understand how you're mounting yours. This is how PercentSevenC and I mounted his, in front of the rad. (quick link so I don't clutter up your thread with pics) https://www.rx7club.com/nw-rx-7-foru.../#post11192106

Oh, a front mount, I was going to go with that, but when I pulled out my engine, I found that the radiator was trash, the whole bottom of the core was eaten away by corrosion.aND I already had 2 vmount set ups that i got in a parts deal.so for now, this is what I'm going with until I get another radiator.

This is basically how it is going to fit, the rotary works kit that i was going to modify and use wouldn't work, i got all of the mounting brackets to work, but the radiator was way too big, i would have to cut a lot of my radiator support, and it still wouldn't work because it would hit the sway bar, this is actually the intercooler from the rotary works kit.if anyone has a fc that wants a vmount kit , let me know

I may play around with this some more to see if the radiator will fit in a normal mounting position, that way i can still use the factory ac condenser and not have to get one made:)

Jeff20B 02-28-16 04:14 PM

Ok, cool. I was going to ask if you still had AC. Sounds like you do. I do like the short charge pipes. That should work out well assuming the slanted rad gets enough airflow etc.

As for your boosted Nikki setup, I think the front mount idea can work fine. If/when I do an intercooler, it's getting a front mount because my rad is one of those tall 83-85 ones with a big 16" electric fan and the factory AC is long gone. I also have a beehive because the factory GSL-SE oil coolers are notoriously easy to leak at the threaded bungs. Mine went from a drip to an oil patch in only 75 miles. I had a nice beehive already stretched to fit a 13B. One afternoon, a couple of plastic Tee fittings from Napa, a little extra 5/8" hose. Done. Rock solid temps that runs cool, even with a turbo! In fact it runs a little too cool than I'd like in winter. :) I might have drilled a small hole in the thermostat where the jigglepin usually sits - don't recall.

Jeff: check out VW bug intercoolers... That's what I'm gonna do this summer. Single side and slips right in behind the bumper.

Erick: you're running a/c? Where are you gonna put the condenser?
The V-mount does look better than the ridiculous amounts of tubing required to front mount an intercooler.

Yeah, I'm running a/c, I'm not sure yet. I'm looking into getting one made, and mount it right on top of the radiator. I don't like having all of the tubing either

I decided to make a few changes with the fuel system.is replaced the factory pressure regulator, and factory fuel rails. I replaced them with rising rpm fuel rails, and aeromotive pressure regulator with gauge, also completely finished the fuel system and the tank is back in
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...3ba59ac74c.jpg

Here is a picture of the new rails installed

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...6bfa5a75b5.jpg

How they look with the intake back on

https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...83369d46dc.jpg

And here is a picture of the new regulator. While putting it back together, i noticed that some how one of the terminals on the intake temp sensor got broken off, so now I have to get another one

I'm also thinking of just making the intercooler a front mount with the factory radiator,I forgot that I had another radiator laying around that I can use, with the way I had it set up in a vmount ,there wasn't hardly any room to mount the afm or any thing else

erick31876 05-01-16 07:24 PM

Today I got the coils ,fuse box, radiator, condensor, intercooler mounted, I decided to go with a front mount intercooler for the time being.that way I can hook up the a/c until I can get some custom hoses made.the only problem I found with this,is where to mount the afm at. With it hooked up to the stock t.i.d ,it is in the way of the intercooler pipe.
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...35f1476823.jpg

This is what i came up with to solve the afm mounting problem. I ordered some silicone adapters to move it to in between the radiator and fender apron. This is just to show the basic idea. It will be lower than this

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...7d8cd8ceca.jpg

Here is how i mounted the intercooler. I liked rhe vmount set up better, bit im dying to drive my car ,and dont want to wait to get custom a/c hoses made

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...2ecaea6c5e.jpg

Here is where i mounted the coils and fuse box

https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...718009de24.jpg

Here is another view of how i mounted the intercooler

erick31876 05-08-16 08:58 PM

Finished mounting and plumbing my oil cooler and intercooler

https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...dbf171ece8.jpg

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...5caa3ac5d8.jpg

I also figured out a better way to mounty afm, without it being in the way of anything. It turns out that i couldn't use the stock t.i.d.,i just used a 45degree coupler coming off of the turbo inlet, and it pretty much fit right under the intercooler pipe.plus it looks a hell of a lot cleaner this way

Not too much more left to do before I can start it

What kinda battery are you running?

You're coming along.

Not sure yet. But I just found out that I can't mount it in the stock location, I went to mount the battery tray, and it sits about every inches below the intercooler pipe. So I ordered some 2 gauge battery cable, and will be mounting it in one of the storage bins.

Craaazy, thanks for the compliment. It means a lot coming from people on here that I respect and admire, thanks everyone.
The car was getting to be a total mess and covered in about an inch of body dust from being in my work,is had to clean it.
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...b481dc34b7.jpg

Nice and clean now, time to get it wired up

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...e03d93d50a.jpg

I just got back from new York ,i picked this set of rims up from i guy there. Thanks roger,i think they look great on there

https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...071b2a9e2b.jpg

I also got this in the mail the other day, im not sure whether or not if im going to run the fuel lines through it, im thinking no,because i dont want the gas running through something that is hot, if anyone has experience with one of these, please let me know

erick31876 05-18-16 09:09 PM

Made my harness for the alternator, oil pressure sender, coolant temp sender, wrapped it in braided sleeve,my phone was about to die so I couldn't take pictures, I'll take some tomorrow morning when I get to work. Should also get some more wiring done

erick31876 05-20-16 01:19 PM

My battery cable came today, hopefully i can finish the wiring this weekend

Emanuel2 06-17-16 07:44 AM

How u did the harness

craaaazzy 06-17-16 10:36 AM

how is ur wiring coming along?

Emanuel2 06-17-16 10:47 AM

Hey Erick can u text me if u can don't know how to use this app 215 252 1320 manny

erick31876 06-19-16 09:08 AM

Sorry guys,I came down with a really bad kidney infection, I was basically in bed for the last 2 weeks and wasn't on here much and couldn't work on the car.I had a chance yesterday to work on the car,and I'm working on it now.

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...de7e54c1ec.jpg

I finally figured out what battery im going to use,i got an optima 680 ,a lot of people on here have good things to say about it,this thing is tiny,i could probably mount it in the radio opening if i wanted to

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...13d1bd09f0.jpg

Also ordered a big brake kit off of ebay.sellers name is hounderville. Very good quality, this is the only picture i took of it so gar,and i forgot it at home.i still have to get all of the fc brake parts to install it, but first im going to take measurements of everything in the kit .

https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...52dcb9dbec.jpg

Got the ecu, knock control unit, atmosphere pressure sensor installed on the mounting bracket. Im going to use my rtek 1.8 until i get it running good and all of the bugs worked out. Then I'll switch to my rtek 2.1

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...534cf7d39a.jpg

Got the harness ran through the firewall. I know it dont look pretty right now, but i want to make sure i have all of the bugs worked out of it before I wrap the harness and tie it down

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...d03da01abb.jpg

Here is a picture ofy alternator and coolant and oil pressure sending unit harnesses

I'm hoping to have it started today, I'll post again after I get done workingon it today

Dang Eric, sorry to hear you were sick, but glad to see you're back at it. Wiring is one thing I really suck at. I admire people that can do that and do it well. Great job!

Thanks,it really sucked,I literally could not get out of bed for almost a week, and then I couldn't be out of bed for more than a few minutes for about another week,I'm still not fully over it,but a hell of a lot better than I was.

Ok yesterday I got the battery cables ran,and hooked up
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...13bef2ae22.jpg

I drilled a hole in the side of the transmission tunnel and put a grommet, and ran a 6 foot piece of 3/4 in. Heater hose through it ,and then ran the power wire tjeough that, dont want to take any chances of something wearing a hole in the insulation of the wire

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...d97cde6eaf.jpg

Heres how it came out ,its actually a really good fit,and the piece of hose is tje perfect size to make it to the driver storage bin

I also put a new oil filter and oil in it,started putting antifreeze in it and noticed a puddle on the floor, look down and notice that coming out of the middle of the radiator I just ordered an aluminum 3 row radiator and electric fan from eBay hopefully it will get here before the weekend

Qingdao 06-20-16 01:09 PM

Are you planning on being up and running this summer?

If you're impatient you can always pull a ful out of the copper radiator and solder it closed on both ends.

Worked for a temporary fix for me... that was 2 years ago. hehe still holding. :D

Hmmm!,not a bad idea, I think I might have to do that and that way I'll have it as an emergency spare because it's leaking right from The Middle of the radiator I already ordered the other one I'm just hoping it'll be here by Friday it's coming from California

erick31876 06-21-16 09:20 PM

Removed the upper intake to take out the stock engine harness that I had so I can install the emissions deleted one that I have
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...33781eb3db.jpg

Here is the stock harness removed, i should have never installed it to begin with

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...630cd02b09.jpg

The engine re wired up again,i am not plugging the iat in until i have everything bolted to the engine, if you look close you can see that one of the tabs is missing on it. that broke off when I installed the stock harness, that little tiny sensor was like $75. I am not breaking another one

So basically everything on the engine is wired,I just have the boost sensor, variable resistor, coils, and a couple relays and the wiring is done.now I'm getting really impatient, I want to drive it bad:bigthumb:
