thanks che. i saw that you picked up that red widebody, start a build thread on that cause i'd like to see what you do to it (all your cars are all very clean!).

i never liked the look of the front end of my car. something was off. based on marco's recommendation, i painted the molding on the front bumper with plastidip to see how it would look. if i didn't like it, i could easily peel it off. i think it looks better now. what do u guys think?

no big update really. made a bracket to hold the license plate light. also changed oil after my 500 mile motor break-in so am now able to go to 7.5k rpm's safely...let me tell u...i did not know about the damn buzzer at the higher rpm's, scared the hell out of me!

did go to the local caffeine and octane monthly meet and parked next to the sweetest RX3 in the US (my opinion).

Rims and lugs were about $450, tires were $500, and another $100 for install so not cheap but at least not as expensive as getting a nice set of CCW's. calculate price of installing body kit, paint, etc...things start going up real quick.

I'm surprised I have not gotten any interest in my widebody as it would cost a whole lot more to get to this level. I have seen other fb's selling for not that much less but not so much things being updated/replaced/restored...though i will say that there are less widebody buyers. Oh well, if it doesn't sell, just means I get to keep it.

craaaazzy 09-23-13 08:08 AM

since i haven't received any real offers on the widebody, i've decided to start working on the REW motor. here's the motor after cleaning it up a bit. have also ordered some flanges and fittings to figure out the turbo oil drain using a 12A front cover.

lx_machado 09-24-13 06:48 AM

What are you planning on doing with your old motor?

craaaazzy 09-24-13 07:55 AM

the gsl-se motor will be put up for sale when i complete this install. it'll be a few months as i don't plan on rushing. it won't be cheap though as it's got new housings and bearings...u may as well buy my other REW that's here. ;)

craaaazzy 09-29-13 11:00 AM

received the fittings and flanges.

also started going through the REW harness, labeled all needed plugs as well as verified each plug's wiring back to the two main plugs to the ECU. picked up some things to replace brittle and old harness covering/tape.

Are u planning on running the stock ecu. I'm going with a micro tech on myn

craaaazzy 09-29-13 06:18 PM

i'll be using a PowerFC.

drilled the front cover w/ the 1 1/8 hole saw bit. came out a bit larger than i wanted, should have bought the 1 inch one but welder should have no issues.

doogy2 09-30-13 04:59 PM

So I'm guessing your using the rew front cover and making a cradle for the mounts. ?

Nope, using 12a front cover and the stock GSL-SE mounting. Will then be using a FC CAS for the signal since I'm not using the REW cover, CAS, and trigger wheel.

doogy2 09-30-13 05:27 PM

I did not know that the cas from the second gen would work with the power fc lol but yeah I'm goin with a microtech in my 79 just to make this all easy for my situation

craaaazzy 09-30-13 06:28 PM

Trying to keep it as simple as possible and I thought the PFC was the best since it should be plug and play...unfortunately, I will need to wire in plugs 1 and 2 since those are not on the engine harness. I probably could have chosen something else but am not familiar with the other ECU's other than AEM.

doogy2 09-30-13 06:38 PM

I just did I microtech on a 20b I don't think it can get much easier came with the harness just terminated it and fired the car up

craaaazzy 09-30-13 06:47 PM

That easy? Wow. Oh well, already got PFC and figured out most of the wiring on paper, just need to do it.

doogy2 09-30-13 06:57 PM

Yeah it comes with an unterminated and harness all labeled I'll put up some pics when I get to myn

craaaazzy 10-03-13 10:53 AM

picked up front cover from welder.

Hey what tranny u running

craaaazzy 10-04-13 04:28 PM

S4 TII 5 speed

craaaazzy 10-24-13 01:19 PM

got my rx8 front cover gasket as well as oil seal from Atkins. trimmed the front cover gasket of the extra material not needed and installed the new oil seal. also painted the front cover. same paint will be used for the intake manifold.
